Third time i'v been bumped...

Right then, been to the cinema and they said there is no cctv in that area of the car park. but i took pictures of the distance which the guy is claiming somebody/thing pushed his car into mine.

So now from telling his gran his handbrake failed who then told the police, to telling me he had his car checked and his hadbrake was fine to someone must have pushed it, hes really starting to pi$$ me off.

With any luck i will have it reported to the insurance company and set it all in motion, i dont care if he wants to settle outside now, hes a pr1ck.

Oh and here are a few images of the distance which someone 'pushed' the car... (the distance from looking at the frint is deceptivly short)

i still reckon that's the most likely way it happened

I dont understand how someone pushed his car all that way when his handbrake was apparently fine (so he says), personally i dont think my car has the power to push another car with its handbrake on that sort of distance, and i reckon you would need a pretty hefty vehicle to continually push a car over a spave of about 5-10 meters

a 4x4 would push that like it was a crisp packet....

and so would most cars too

i still reckon that's the most likely way it happened

Could you really push a modern car that far without damaging the bumper/bodywork? Thats quite a force to overcome the friction between tyres and tarmac whilst 2 wheels are locked

have you not seen the big dent in the back of the audi:confused:

and there's no such thing as 'locking' the wheels.... unless you have an automatic gearbox

the dent was there from a previous time, the guy said that himself, when he came over he said i wouldnt mind but summat happened in a car park last week and dented the back. that dent has nothing to do with that night, and there were no other visible marks of a car pushing it across the carpark

Well, so far we've been told the bump is previous - whether that's true or not is uncertain. IMHO, I don't think the location of the bump and position of the impact match up.

As for the locked wheel, you're right they are not physically locked by some mechanical device but the rear wheels would certainly be restrained.

Are you suggesting the car was pushed at a load to overcome the braking force of the handbrake to allow the wheels to turn. I'm guesing now but I'd be thinking 200kg+? Seeing that the OP and a friend could not consequently move the car.

This load on the car then left only the damage seen on the rear of the audi?

Damn, if you're right, those little audis are tough

he said i wouldnt mind but summat happened in a car park last week and dented the back

Maybe it rolled back from its space and hit something:rolleyes:

from the look of the dent on the back it looks feasable for it to have rolled back into one of those troller bays where they have the low metal barriers.

But yea thats exactly what i was thinking, especially when the g/f was like, right we're taking your car tomorrow to find out whats wrong with it.

Did you AND your friend hear her say this?

yes we did :)

Am I being thick? I still don't understand how it makes a difference to you whatever happened to his car. You are parked in a space and a car is clearly in the back of you and clearly not in a space. Whatever happened to his car might not have been his fault, but I still fail to see why you are worried?

On what you have shown us, it surely doesn't look as if it could possibly be your fault. Therefore, whoever he might have the right to claim from, it can't be you. I'd reckon that whether his car was faulty or shunted is irrelevant to you and to let the insurance co sort it out, just making sure that you finish up with a 100% claim against another and fault-free on you.

Again, anyone feel free if not so. The only downside I've found with insurance companies is that they like a quick settlement (for obvious reasons), so I've learned from the last occasion that I will stick to my guns next time and have none of this 50/50 business when it clearly wasn't.

While I would agree with you that what you say is possible, that's one hell of a push for the tiny amount of damage on the back of the car. A 4x4 would have hit higher than the bumper and the impact to move it that far would have done a lot more damage IMHO.

I think it is more likely him and his misses were running late for the film or having a barny, he parked his car into yours from the side and then legged it into the film.

If you look at the angle of impact to your car it isn't, IMHO, consistent to the direct the car would have been moved in should it have been in the bay behind and shunted where the dent is.

My money is on the handbrake loosening after the discs had cooled.

I had this happen to a Honda Accord Coupe I had once, it rolled back into my garage door but luckily not with enough force to push the door into my Prelude VTEC that was sitting inside at the time

He's probably beed driving quick in his new flash Audi to impress the girlfriend, then maybe not applied the handbrake completely, gone into the pics and a wee while later - bump!

He's the driver of the other car and never left the vehicle in a secured position, if there was a slight incline I would have engaged a first or reverse to help if the handbrake failed.

This should deffinately come from his insurance, you were parked correctly.

I'd report the driver for giving a slightly wrong address too.

I've seen this happen to a MkI Octavia TDI 110, hot brakes when parked, once cooled the car rolled off. Probably got the same rear disks as well.

Well having been promised his details by this morning and not recieveing them, and then given him the chance till the end of the day and still no details, so i shall be off to the station tomorrow and hopefully they will be interested in the fact he wont give his insurance details.

I was willing to give him one last chance by threatening to go to the police again but dear dad said no, he wouldnt do the same for you, just go to the cops n get him sorted :D

If it turns out he has no insurance looks like its coming out of my pocket :(

If that is the case, get a quote for repairs, and then sue him in the small claims court.

Nothing like the threat of a CCJ to get somebody to settle.

Besides which if he has no insurance the police are going to be very interested in having a chat with him, not to mention they have the right to turn the A3 into a cube of metal.

Prob no licence either! Go straight to the cops. Failing to swap details is a criminal matter - and you have pics to proove the car was there.

I always put mine in 1st gear for this very reason. Neighbour of mum & dad had this happen, and ended up car going down a hill and through someones garage!

Does sound like he's got no insurance. Unfortunately in the country we live in there seems to be more dishonest people out there than honest law abiding bods.

I'm still lost  If you have his reg no, I thought that insurers had a communal database - well they say they have in most of their application form blurb. Surely your own insurer would know? :ne_nau:

Go on, you know ya wanna get this guy.....

iv been to the police again, all they said is, go to your insurance, tell them everything and request they send him a section 154 pt1 form, which requests his details, failure to do so within 7-14 working days will meen my insurance company will contact the police and they will in turn knock on his door and ask for the details, faliure again will result in summons.
