Featured Replies

I have the part number: 1J0 945 551 D

2004 (53) Mk1 Octavia vRS with cruise control.

Oh! and if anyone has one to sell can you contact me please.

I presume you mean the brake light switch?

If so it Should be 1J0 945 511 E . one number out and the D version was dropped and superseded by the E version. According to my info in ETKA7

Assuming you mean the brake pedal switch, the latest is 1C0 945 511A I think. Before you say anything I know my website needs updating!!! :P

Its the one above the brake pedal that stops the brake lights and cruise control working.

Yep. The new one is green. You sould be given the latest one when you go in to order one anyway.

Hmmm according to my info and i presume you ment 1J0 instead of 1C0. The part number ending with A is for the model without cruise control.

Let us know mluton when you order.Ta

Nope I meant 1C0, I was provided with the number by a currently empolyed technician who happened to be fitting one at the time and took the liberty of sending me a picture along with the number so I must assume it is a current number.

I may be wrong but I think the switch indicated as being for Cruise Control is actually fitted to the clutch pedal. The brake pedal switch also disengages the CC.

Yeah the purple switches have been superceeded to the green switches as they have now changed the way the switch functions and locates.

How hard is it to fit?

  • Author

Really east to fit, just twist it and it pops out, then unplug the cable from it.

Took minutes to fit.

And the next obvious question - where is it?

  • Author

follow the brake pedal up and you will see it.

Ill take a picture, bear with me a few minutes.

Oh you have to remove the panel above the pedals. 2 torque screws.

Picture isnt the best as the panel was in the way, but it shows it in place. Original on mine was black.

Its just above the pivot point of the brake pedal.

Ah, cool. Many thanks.

Mine is getting temperamental, sometimes sticking on. Was thinking about getting a new one but wasn't sure where it lived. However the car's now warning me a service will be due in 800 miles, so I guess I'll just ask them to do it then.

You can clean your original one. I did this a few times. See below link.

I think mine started playing up when i put WD40 on the pivot points of the brake and clutch pedal as there were squeeking. Everytime i cleaned it it worked well.

Oh! and this makes you have no brake lights to if you have no cruise. Beware.

I have cruise - the way I found out was when the cruise stopped working.
