Anyone good at Photoshop?

Featured Replies

Just received a new grille painted RED from my dealer; hope to get it fitted over the weekend (or perhaps next) will post a pic once done.

I will also get some clear protective film to put over it first, to protect against stone chips.

how much did that cost if you dont mind me asking?

Hi there - newbie on this forum, but I hope I have a valid post...

Being a bit of a photoshop geek (it being part of my business and all) I thought I would have a go at creating the matte silver grill referred to in the posts above. I have used your image as the start - let me know what you think...

I hope you dont like this one better than the one you have ordered!!

and if any of you want any photoshop-ing done on your stuff, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Thanks for this, good job.

Not quite sure it looks right though. I have concluded that it is (OEM) chrome or colour-coded and am going RED. Results to follow.

sorry bahnstormer  , i meant the cost of the part plus the spraying

very interesting info about the film though. will be interested to see how it goes on for when i do mine

Sorry; I can't answer that. I got the colour coded grille as a 'freebie' out of my dealer after they messed up on the installation of my (Alpine) radio.

As to the film, I have a couple of blemishes/bubbles in it and am hoping 1) that it will look OK once on the car and 2) that I can get it fitted in the first place. If I can get the grille fitted with the film I may well leave it at that and can always take the film off later (when I sell it) to leave a then pristine, non-chipped grille below.

Good luck with yours.

Hope to see it when its finished!

What is it you would like to see done, and to what car?

The brushed alu affect to the grill surround and door mirrors. This affect please

I don't reckon that would look good Shaun, but then again I don't really like the chrome mirrors on anything

Just think it's the wrong look, especially seeing as you've gone down the colour coded route at the front, so the chrome effect has nothing to 'match with'.

But yeah, see what Photoshop offering can be achieved :)

Its not just the mirrors though Steve, was thinking about the grill surround as well. Will see how it looks, something little different from other poeple and the colour coded.

I dont like chrome as it to bright, but the alu affect is duller.

Shaun

Hmmm, can see what you mean - with the alu effect. Would certainly be different :)

Well, if you're thinking of changing the grille, let me know :)

Oh, and have you had a look in 'Was it You?' this evening? ;)

The pic is done, and I will upload as soon as I can sort my FTP out.

Eventually got my colour-coded grille on over the weekend.

Actually got it fitted in quick time thanks to the guide on Octavia-vrs.com (many thanks to VRStu and Davew), details here;- Octavia-vRS.com - Colour Coded Grille

I was able to keep the Protective Film on but whilst the outer edge was wrapped around the grille surround, I found that the fit on the inner edge (grille surround to grille) was very tight and I had to trim the film for a precise fit. It is not perfect, but having got the film on it may as well do its job.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished article;-

IMHO it looks a lot better than with the standard chrome surround (well I suppose I would say that after the work that I have done).

looks realy good bahnstormer vrs. Ive just been into the dealer today to price up a new surround and badge. going to give the local scrappys a ring as well just in case they have any cheap.

Thanks.

Considering you want to get the grille surround painted, I'd opt for a brand new unblemished one. Anything pre-owned (from a scrappie) may have slight flaws to it plus you won't know what dirt, oil, polish may have been on it that will affect the paint.

Looks bloody awesome that! Love it!

10x better than the chrome. I think you did the right thing going for red. :)

Looks good, I initially wasn't sure when I seen the photoshop but changed my opinion now

sorry to destroy your fine car, put this in the pile labeled what not to do.

Although the 40mm ish drop looks good. I think you should get the grill surround red (unlike the pic) it may be a common mod but modding itself is not common so it will still look special next to a thousand other standard cars.

Quite right; definitely NOT recommended.

I have got the grille surround RED (see post #43). The lowered look is interesting; although I prefer the OEM 'Rally look as it keeps the suspension supple (with the greater travel).

ordered a new chrome surround the other day which should be in tomorrow. gonna pop around the the dealers bodyshop once ive got it to price up a spray job
