Superb - service intervals

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying a nearly new Superb, and just trying to work out the different costs.

According to What Car - the service intervals for the cars I'd consider are:

1.8T - 10,000 miles - servicing costs over 3 years -

5000 miles on the diesels? That's not right, you can have them on variable servicing, so you'd be able to get away with 2 year/20k service intervals...

Rob.

Doesn't seem right to me either...

Seems to low, variable on the diesel means 2yrs 30k miles if I remember. On the 1.8T its 2yrs 20k miles.

Thanks for the info :D

With this variable servicing, how can you be sure the car (I'd be buying second hand), would have a Full History?

10,000 for fixed servicing, and variable if you want (but then the links trell you that), mine is on variable and doing very nicely.

I should have put this in when I posted previous, but.....

.....if I were in the market for a used car with a VW group engine I would want to see dealers stamps either proving long life servicing or 10,000 servicing. Which ever it were, if the book wasnt fully stamped with the dealer stamp I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.

If you a service history to be important as I do, the only way to guarantee the use of the proper grade oil is through the dealer network. Expensive I know but how else can you be sure Mr Private Owner and tinkerman hasnt just used cooking oil when he felt like it?

Whichever car I buy, it must have a FSH. As the car will be 18 months old at the oldest, there is no reason at all for it not to be. The first services cost nothing. I can't believe people wouldn't get their cars serviced by dealers in the first 3 years. Surely this would invalidate the manufacturers warranty? For me, the manufacturers warranty is the reason for getting a nearly new car. I've been too used to shelling out up to a grand a time on old Saabs, because previous owners haven't maintained the cars properly. I'd rather put that money towards a newish car, than maintenance on a banger.

To be honest, I'd prefer to go for one with Fixed Servicing - or buy one with less than 10,000 miles, and arrange the first service myself :D
