Dension ice link fitted to audience radio

Featured Replies

Hi all, please please please help me. i have a dension icelink kit for my ipod. i have tried to get this to work with my audience radio. the dealer canm't get it to work. what the hell is going on......it must have something to do with the cd changer as the head unit is 6 cd? input is through the cd changer port on the rear, but what needs to be done to the radio as it would appear this input is switched off? please help

The cd changer port is disabled on the audience as it has one built into the HU. Unfortunatly you cant enable it either as there are no connections on the PCB to the terminals on the back of the HU.

There is a line in on the back, but you need to purchase some additional wiring and a connector to insert into the quadlock. There is some info on here regarding part numbers etc. You will need to use the controls on the ipod though, as connecting this way means no control of the ipod through the hu.

So, basically the icelink only works with the stream and is totally incompatible with the audience.

Cheers for the info,. but the question is why do they sell it on their website saying it's compatible?

I cannot find any reference to the audience HU on densions website, only the stream and stream mp3 and the icelink will work with those HU's.

Dealer now confirms my fears. do you have the link regarding the other fitting?

I seem to remember that Jeff (Roo) had similar issues.

Does anyone happen to have any new information regarding this issue? I have tried calling Skoda importers, retailers, etc. in Finland but they don't know anything about this.

I even tried calling Skoda UK where they said that IceLink plus should work with both Audience and Stream, but I cannot count on this as there might be differences between UK and Finnish cars...and in fact I'm not sure if I can even trust on the Skoda UK support person.

I'm hoping that this issue would be addressed in the 2008 models, although I was told by Skoda importer in Finland (Helkama Auto) that the Audience radio is the same as in 2007 model. I'm sure it's the same hardware, but I assume this fix would be in firmware.

Bum.....

Wish I had seen this post before buggering around for the last hour trying to get my ICELINK PLUS working with my Audience stereo. At least I know it wasn't me being stupid, just means I have to take it all out again now....

Have you grounded it to the Head Unit Steve?

I've connected the only wire mwith the kit that doesn't have a plug to the main brown earth wire on the HU loom.

I think the problem is about identifying it a a multichanger. The ipod reconises being connected to the dension correctly.

Any advice would be great though Stu!

I fitted one to a Fabia the other day and grounded it to a suitable point. The bugger just wouldn't work.

Did a bit of research and turned up the answer on an Audi website. Grounded it directly to the casing of the HU and would you believe the fecker works perfectly.

Same symptoms, ipod was reporting Denison on the screen but the HU was having none of it.

Be interested if that is the cause.

I'm not even sure how to access it from the Audience menu as I can't see anywhere for either Aux or the 5CD :(

Bugger also is that my Nokia Car Kit isn't connecting to the radio now so I must have disconnected something in the process too...

I seen flynntech with one of these the other day, he had the Sat Nav Radio system (sorry don't know the name :o ), I seen reference above to it working with the original Stream units. Did anyone have any hassle connecting it. Btw does it control the Ipod the same way as Flynntechs would ?

Shouldn't it just show up under CD?

The internal CD changer is the CD button on the front of the HU.

The aux function is enabled in the menu.

Unfortuantely it appears that it is not possible to enable the Audience external changer, therefore looks like the Dension ICE link is going on eBay :(

Does it work on a stream unit ? If so how much would you sell it for ? Btw I'm in ireland so I'd have to factor in postage
