Will Skoda ever do a sport VW style blue dash?

Featured Replies

I'm liking the VW blue dash, and see it as a shame Skoda dont fit it.

Surely it'd look ace on the VRS?*

*then we could have it as retro on other Octys

I agree and it has been done on the MkI but it was lot of work, there is a 'How To' somewhere iirc.

As far as Skoda doing it as a standard option on the vRS is a non starter as far as I'm concerned as it's all to do with brand distinction and VW have 'Blue', Audi 'Red' and Skoda is Green so I think we are stuck with it.

But they did change our brake calipers to red. It might all come down to cost

in the end.

Noooooooo; The Skoda's 'green' instrument lighting is perfect and restful.

The Golf's blue make the car feel like some ... erm .... it's too late and I can't think straight ... but anyway I don't like the Golf's blue dash!!

I like all the colours :)

The green instrument lighting is spot on and the blue lighting on the VW's is too confusing in the dark. Initially it's very novel but you will tire of it very quickly, especially in the winter months.

Stick with green I say.

I love the green lighting in the Skoda, matches the callipers and the Skoda emblem. :)

However im driving round in a Golf atm for my courtsey car, and i do quite like the blue, the problem is that half the lights are red, and it just looks a bit of a jumble.

If you want a dash lit up in blue then get a Golf ...... if you want green get an Octy

To be honest when I purchase a car the colour of the dash lighting isn't the thing that makes me do a deal or walk away.

i had a polo ant i loved the blue but skoda are green and so we'll stay!!!! i wish they'd paint the callipers Green again i dont like the Red........

Here's a pic of my Golf's dash lights.... someone put up the dash of an Octy with the lights on so people can do a real comparison;

To be honest I do love blue/red of the VW, but the green/red of my Fabia looked bloody good!

Here's the Skoda dash, for comparison:

Green is MUCH better.

I'm pretty sure if it were the other way round ie. the VW had Green backlight as standard and Skoda had Blue backligh as standard then someone somewhere would be trying to convert it to green!.

i prefer the blue/red VW combo but i wouldn't change it as i couldn't be ar sed.

I prefer the green to the blue/red myself.

I really hate the seat ambery red as it make s the radio annoyingly obvious.

not that you can see much of the dash lights here but i prefer the green too, much more relaxing on the eyes.

Blue/red combo looks much classier

Chris

I love the blue and red in my Passat, but I love the green and red in my old vRS too. I don't however like the green with green needles.

I like....you gotta have some balls to do that to your dash tho!

Blue / red looks good at first but I find it hurts my eyes and makes them go out of focus too easily... Its something to do with having astigmatism. :o

I had a similar problem when I once had a Passat as a hire car for a business trip - after a couple of hours in the dark, I couldn't bear to look at the dials they hurt my eyes so much! :( The following scenario kept going through my head:

PC Plod: "Do you know how fast you were going, sir?"

Me: "No idea, I'm afraid - it's physically impossible for me to look at the speedo..."

PC Plod: "Comedian, eh...?"

etc. etc.

Did you try turning the brightness down? On the lowest setting I can't believe they could cause any discomfort.

I find to turn the dial just under the max brightness, really focuses the dials and makes them a joy to use. :)
