Surprised by unmarked car - what was it?

Featured Replies

Looked like a silver people carrier (Merc A class?) coming towards me in a school district, so paid no attention as typical style for the area. Suddenly, headlights flashed alternately and it was long gone before I could identify anything.

was it one of those dirty big merc hearse looking things

I saw an unmarked Discovery 3 in Birmingham. That opened my eyes a little...

Seems the plod are using a wider and more diverse range of unmarked cars these days... Better watch out...!

That was a Mercedes R class :cop:

Memories are always iffy, but I reckon it was shorter and taller than that. It was pootling along, just as I was, at the 30 limit - then it was gone - whoosh.

They are even using Skoda's nowadays

Let's hope they don't adopt the Roomster or no-one will be able to take them seriously ;)

Possibly a B-class? Looks a bit like an A-Class but, well, bigger...

Rob.

And available with a 2.0 petrol turbo :D

I saw a Merc V-Class (green, I think), and a silver Audi A3 doing the unmarked police car thing on the M62 a couple of years ago - they're certainly going for variety, these days!

Probably a B class. And having test driven one I can concur that they are very competant cars!!

I have recently seen around Manchester a red Golf GTi, a silver Audi A3, a multitude of vectras of varying colours and a maroon Volvo V70. The Golf looked a little different though . . . does the Ed 30 come in red?!

Saw my first R class yesturday, R330 i think, deisel too? Looked pritty impressive.

I saw an unmarked people carrier on the M6 about 7 or 8 months back. I think it was a Ford Galaxy, original shape, but can't remember now as my memory is crap!!! :D

Galaxy's do exist as Police Cars... If that's what you want to call them.

 @ cheezemonkhai. It could well have been a Ford Galaxy though, as the alternately flashing lights were quite close to the centre and the Merc B grid looks a bit wide. :)

Our local plod are using one of these, I kid you not!

I think a white sprinter makes one of the ultimate high speed pursuit vehicles, only being surpassed by the same in royal mail colours.

I mean how often have you seen a sprinter van going slow, or for that fact below NSL.

Kent Police have Skoda.

Speaking to them, theyt say they are a hoot to drive round town and great on the motorway too.

Lots of the Police vehicles are TDi including the Octy vRS' they use.
