Oil change suggestion

Featured Replies

Morning Chaps,

I have just completed approx 550 miles in my Fabia vRS. Being from a racing background and having built race motors I always change my oil after 100-300miles whilst running a new motor in. If there are any pieces of metal floating around they should come out, secondly the oil is usually well heated with friction. I happened to change my oil on Sat after 300 miles and was horrified to see the state of the oil. I know that diesels in general will tend tyo make oil darker in colour after use but this was aweful.

I'd like to make a suggestion to all new vRS owners to invest in new oil before 1000 miles and again at the first service. I believe this will help reduce damage whilst running in.

Complete waste of time and money. Oil in diesels ALWAYS turn black within a few miles due to soot, this is perfectly normal. Metal in oil (if any) will be caught in the full flow filter. The factory fill oil is likely to be the best oil your engine will ever see. More damage is done by changing at a very early stage (due to the lack of oil pressure for several seconds after the change) when the engine is not well run in. For a PD diesel the correct specification oil is essential for long life. (VW505.01 or VW506.01)

Welcome to Briskoda, skodakid. I agree with the comments you made. There has been previous debate on Briskoda about the suitability of 506 01 oil for the PD-engined Fabia since it is not specified - but is for the PD-engined Octavia and Superb on variable service intervals. Perhaps you could add to what I said in this thread?
