Blown off

Featured Replies

It`s raining. I`m bored joining the M62. VW Lupo GTI passes me.

Jesus them things can move and as for going around corners in the wet i have not seen anything like it. Tried to keep up for all of 5 seconds and then common sense set in.

Very impressive for a small package!

As some owners like to say, 'it's light, it's fast, it's just gone past!' :D

Yep, a nice little motor - about as near to the Mk1 Golf GTi as you're going to get, in modern terms!

The Xenons should have looked pretty good in the rain too

Steve

Quick, but think of the mpg ;)

Chris

Slightly better if it's a later variant with the 6-spd 'box (02 onwards IIRC)

:D

the lupo gti is a cracking little car... i've driven a few, i almost bought one new a few years ago, but i couldn't afford to insure it...

i still love them to bits, and i'd jump at the chance of buying one.... unmodified ones are going to become quite rare soon too

Yep, quirky little things - I like them. Shame there's no real successor, as it had some character to it.

Can't really imagine them releasing a Fox GTi to be honest!

Steve

Hmm Fox has a 1.4 and they are apparently very popular with the youth...

You could get a 1.4TFSI under there and there was bags of room around the 1.4 engine in it that I saw. I don't know if that would be enough to shoehorn a 1.8TFSI in there, but either would make for a damn fast little car.

Now as to whether this could happen is a different question.

no chance;)

One of the guys in our convoy to VW Mania last year had one (or was it a Polo GTi? I forget now. Anyway...) and I was shocked at how quick it was too :)

They sound nice. Just too small for me.

Is the Lupo GTI like the Arosa Racer in terms of mechanics.

no chance;)

Something you know there Tom?

There are plenty of 1.8T Lupos out there too.

Cracking little cars.

Never heard of the Arosa Racer. But if it has a 1.6 Polo GTI engine stuck in it, along with 125hp. Then yes.

i think the Arosa GTI had the 1400 16v engine in it

The Arosa never got the 1.6 16v 125bhp unit. You're right Ric - quickest Arosa IIRC was the 1.4 Sport.

Another option is to get a 1.4TDI one, then remap it :D

There is an Arosa, or Lupo, with a vRS engine in it from there forum. And I don't believe that's standard! LOL

No no no - you stop that diesel talk right now :P:rofl:

Chris

there was an arosa racer, with the 1.6-16v 125bhp unit fitted, it had o cool bodykit and bucket seats and no rear seat, all from the factory.... but they were only available in spain iirc
