Whats the most indicated range you've had on a tank...?

Featured Replies

My Passat has a 62l diesel tank, but I've never been able to squeeze more than 58l in, and I don't use the "expansion" tank... thats with 0 miles range too.

However, bit of a trip to Norwich on Thursday with some mates, looked down at the speedo to see I'd just ticked over 118,000 miles, but more suprisingly it showed an indicated 720 miles - I'd already done 64 miles on the tank - so an indicated range of 784 miles!!!

Bloody awesome.

I tend to average 50mpg pretty much bang on, mix of sedate a roads and caning the hell out of it... ;) To actually get 784 miles on a tank I'd have to average about 53mpg, which I don't think I'm restrained enough to achieve...

So anyway, whats the largest RANGE you've seen come up on the trip display?

about 720 in the superb and mine does almost spot on 50 mpg normally as well

630 in my Fabia last night :)

265

babs ow do get 630mpg in your furby most iv had is (aprox480) thats on agood day

filled it as much as i could the other day. computer indicated 560. actually got about 480, which i was rather impressed with. All motorway driving, at around 70mph.

the computer went upto 70mpg  but for the best part of the journey it was around 55-60mpg

I don't think it'll do that much... but that was after 60 or so miles at a steady 60mph, then filled it up and the MFA said 630 miles left in the tank lol!

650 in my old PD130 and 570 in my old PD140 :D

3 pics taken in my Fabia VRS , figures give a range of nearly 710miles  , and just to show that the MPG can be accurate in the Fabia the average MPG is 71mpg :D (MPG pic taken further into journey , hence darker pic)

My MFA usually lies its *** off. While it normally claims I've got 650 on a tank, I can only do 600 at a stretch, and usually fill up around the 500 mark. I'd push it further, but my journeys are quite long and fuel is much more expensive if I get caught out half way :(

I did once have nearly 800 on the miles-to-empty shown - was a big fill up after a long economy run. The trip indicated 72mpg / actual 64mpg, which is about 10 mpg more than usual. Had to keep it well under the limit and coast amongst the trucks on the inside lane! Hey, sometimes you get bored and want to try something different :)

I believe it's based on the last 50 miles of driving so my trip computer was never very optimistic!

I've seen 650 indicated range when tanking up, but that's following a real dawdle beforehand, and it never materialises. 550 is a good figure for me to get out of a brimmed tank, 500 being the norm.

I *normally* get about 530 out of my octy (1.9 TDi Ambiente so only 90bhp). Most I've ever had out of one tank is 610... that was after some very economical driving tho!

Indicated, I think mine says 680 quite often after I've filled up! Most I've seen is 710.

Ive seen 650 a couple of years ago... now its usually around 400.. but compensated by the extra :D

just over 500 MAX indicated and in real life I end up with somewhere between 400-500

Gulp. Got a 70l tank in my 2.0 TDI Passat and I don't think I've seen more than 650 miles to go on the display. I never seem to get more than about 42mpg out of it either.

Still a bit tight with only 7K on the clock, but maybe I'm just not driving it right

I once had an indicated 720 in the Fabia - IIRC I posted a pic at the time. :D

erm.... checked mine when I got back from Sheffield just now... 267 miles travelled since last fill-up, 490 miles left indicated... I make that 757 miles ;)

Wonder how many I'll REALLY get (only going to be doing short trips for the next few days so it'll no doubt plummet.... )
