Engine electronics light staying on

Featured Replies

Hi all, I thought i'd got away without having a problem for too long! I have a 1.8t and my Engine electronics light is staying on when starting my car, First happened when i filled up with fuel but thats probably coincidental, Looked in the hand book and it says that the management system selects an emergency programme so the car can driven to a Stealer by adopting a gentle style of driving but mine still drives the same, anyone got any ideas of what the problem might be, Also i towed a caravan for over 160 miles each way last weekend and was wondering if extra fuel burned for a longer time might effect exhaust sensors? Cheers BryanP

Had same trouble with mine a couple of years back. Turned out to be a faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor causing the problem. Didn't affect the way it drove at all but the dealer replaced it under warranty.

Hi, I had the same MAF fault on my Octavia when I first picked it up, only got 10 miles down the motorway when the light started flashing at me, fortunatey I was able to get it sorted on the cars warranty.

I went to Farmers Skoda yesterday who plugged it in to ther diagnostic machine whilst I waited, they gave the bad news I expected, the exhaust Lamda sensor( correct me if thats spelt wrong) needs replacing at a nice cost of

Mine is also an 02 plate 1.8T and apart from the MAF sensor problem and a parking aid sensor problem (both sorted under warranty) and a rear door that refuses to unlock it's been faultless ??? :P

Before owning the Skoda I drove Mazda's (626's) and never had to visit a dealer apart from servicing. The Japanese can teach most people a thing or two about reliability but ask me what my favourite car has been???? THE SKODA. Yes it has it's faults, yes it's costly to repair but it has something my Mazda's never had - class and charisma in abundance. People never commented on my Mazda's but they always do on the Superb.

I totally agree with you there, I've had cars from Peugeot to Vauxhall and even a Austin Metro and none have had as many faults as my Superb but asked which car i'd have the answer will always be the Superb, What I ment was if the JD powers survey was done honestly on older Skoda's would thier legendary reliability stiil be so highly praised, unfortunately I think not, and I dont like saying that about a car I love!
