I like them, but prefer the CTR's styling. I believe the DC5 is quicker, but they use the same block, but different heads. Changing the head was on my list to do.

Another thing for the DC5, I heard the insurance costs were stupidly high.

yep group 20 import only, not that much more power but very good handling and steering feel / feedback is in a different league which makes it feel more special. not knocking the CTR at all, great car when all's said and done.

I feel that I owe various members of the forum an apology for my comments earlier on this thread. I was in a bad mood that day and it was no excuse for being short and stroppy over something so trivial. Also, the comments over the Civic were directly aimed at Snoopie, which in retrospect I feel was childish and for that I also apologise. I do have a great respect for Hondas after owning a 1990 CRX a few years back. It was a quick little car, and great fun but after nearly losing an 'overtaking' maneuver to a Volvo I felt a little let down by the need to thrash the knackers off it just to pull in in time.

The Civic is a great car and I think the debate over torque etc etc can rage on forever. As you said, live and let live. :)

Once again, apologies to all.

Standard VRS

I have found that the multi function display for MPG is a bit optimistic. I do a 40 mile round trip every day with a combination a fast A-roads and town driving. The computer often tells me (when I drive gently) that my avarage 55mpg for the journey in display function 1 and my over all MPG across the whole tank is 49MPG in display function 2 however when doing the math on miles/ltr empty to full, in reality I am only getting 44 mpg almost every time.

However this is still better than my old Pug 306 DTurbo which only returned 38mpg

But saying that when on a long run with cruise control on its still nice to see the display read 60+ mpg even tho I now know its telling fibs:rolleyes:

To all,

My figures are 40-45 mpg, I do 40-50miles on all types of roads and I get 400miles to a tank. I had a revo chip and the 'computer' reckoned that I was 5 mpg better off in town and 10mpg worse off on the A and Motorway roads.

Hope this helps, im putting the remap bk on soon, its fun upsetting evo's and porsches. he he

p.s.

I still own a Honda civic EK4, awsome engine and chasis. Honda make drivers cars.

No worries, I respect people who say sorry, much easier to have just not posted on this thread again.

To be fair, my ranting response was at about quarter to three in the morning after a tiring two hour drive !! :)

:D No probs. I just felt I'd left this thread with a bad odour and felt stupid for acting like such an ar5e. Rather than let it stew and leave people thinking I was a **** I thought I'd clear the air by saying sorry. Next time, if I'm not feeling too clever I'll just avoid talking to anyone.....at least until I've had a cup of tea.

Anyway, back onto the subject of mapping and mpg, I think in terms of mapping a turbocharged car, it will strongly depend on your driving style as to the mpg you return after it's been done. As most will find, the extra power takes some willpower to avoid using, and so the increased boost and fuelling will result in lower mpg, but not horrendously so I think......say around a 5-10mpg reduction at most.

If you lay off the noisy pedal and make use of the extra torque (clutch permitting obviously) then it may be possible to achieve better mpg than before.

I think it also depends on the nature of the map. One that gives more power top end will not hamper mpg as much as you've got to reach for the extra power provided. One that provides a huge slab of grunt at 2k will inevitably use more fuel as you can't really avoid using that rev range. AMD Once Click maps I think are like that.....all at 2k. Also perhaps the Revo ones. If it were me I'd go to either Jabba, Awesome or perhaps the Derv Doctor and ask for a decent map that spreads the power out a bit. It'll save the clutch and front tyres and also you can choose when to use the power by revving it a bit more. That's what I'd do anyway......some may prefer the savage torque surge at 2k.

my map is like this, more power top end, while still retaining low end shove.

I dont know what remapping has done for my ecnomny as i mapped it the day i got it  but i usually see between 40 and 45 mpg and if i concentrate and resist pressing the loud peddle i can get 50+mpg on a long run.

Ah yes I remember your car mate. It revved so much better and the power felt more relentless as we picked up speed. Not all in one fat sweaty dollop at 1,900rpm. :D

How's it feel now you've cleaned the Green filter and stopped the smoking?

I imagine it breathes better.

It feels much better , i have found it smokes more when driven steady than when booting it, so its foot to floor all the time from now on.

The vrs is a serious danger to wildlife! there was some right wildlife in the filter ranging from ur average fly to some rather large bee's. :D no wonder it was smoking as bad as it was!

Apology accepted :) Cheers mate..
