Thinking of getting a mate in Dubai to look for some 2nd hand VW R32 alloys. Might be able to get a good deal on a "discarded" set, if I wait long enough... Oddly enough, it was SWMBO who said that she wanted the wheels to "stick out more" (Like Xav's!).....

Would these fit with Eibach springs and (later on!) Koni dampers? Tyres are 225/40R18 Summer performance and here's a pic. Thanks for any comments/advice!

The wheels would fit depending on width, the 225/45 18 profile a 215/35 18 would be much better for the fabia.

I think tho they would suit the fabia. i even looked at them once for mine but decided against simply because they are 18's.

There is a 9N Polo around these parts with them on with 215/35 18 tyres, looks awesome.

So better to save a bit and ask for just the alloys then? They may come with the actual tyres still on them - could I run them as is, until they wear out, or should I swap tyres before fitting them?

Pretty sure they would rub with the standard tyres also the speedo would be out. You really should get the correct tyres from the off.

great - so let's see what my mate in Dubai can suss out....

Love the look of these, and with the attitude in Dubai, feel pretty confident that I can get some for a song, that have been replaced after probably only 100 miles by some rich spoilt brat (lol).

it will be a very small percentage as 215/35 18 are a similar rolling radius as the oen 205/45/r16. I dont think it is possible to correct or reset the speedo?

depends on the offset of the wheel but usually not a problem with the fabia. it might catch on the plastic wheel archliner on full lock but that can be formed out of the way with a hotair gun.etc

the 18's I am after have an offset of 35 - will this be ok with a 25mm drop (sorry for hi-jacking the thread!)

The sppedo will be exactly right, at all speeds. I have experimented extensively at all speeds with GPS

Basil, 225/40/18 will not fit. You need 215/35/18
