Skoda and Street Cred

chuckling at Smart cars

yeah, but to be fair it wouldn't matter what badge those noddy-mobiles had on the bonnet.

I do love the insane characters who buy a ForTwo and stick a Mercedes three-pointed star to the back - gotta give them marks for trying

(yes I know MB own them and there's some MB engineering somewhere under there - alledgedly the 3-cylinder sub-litre turbo engine - but I don't remember seeing that "power"plant on the CL pricelist when I was looking:rolleyes: )

Speaking of rebadging, when I was headed down to Devon a couple of years ago, I spotted a Fabia estate but thought the Skoda badge looked a bit weird. Got closer and it was a BMW badge  Overtook it and spotted that they'd done the same on the front too, but had left the Fabia badging on the boot.

Wonder if that helped resale value? :D

probably not but i bet they started driving like w**kers after they put the badges on:rofl:
In essence I think badge snobbery is a defense mechanism to deviate criticism away from ourselves & our own choices

A very true statement! Anyhow , who actually 'chooses' what is cool and what is not? Celebs? Ch4vs? Millionaires? Bono? And whoever does it , do they have a clue WTF they are on about? :)

maybe they did that cos the indicators weren't working.......

What is it with you and Citro
LOL, they are just wacky rather than creative.

Only mentioned disliking them once, and I have a reputation already?

Twice I thought, as I thought you did on another thread.

The DS had the cornering lights many years ago, and the BX had discs all round and plastic weight saving body work.

I quite like citroens for what they are. That plus like most french cars they are designed to be driven hard :)

It's actually a cracking little engine - I ditched a modded Fabia vRS for one

I saw a Roadster coupe the other day , Black/Silver, red Sparco seats , S reg private plate , and it sounded like a mini WRC car when changing gear , nice wastegate chatter!

You can almost forgive the 'boy racer' because he's at that age, but imo anyone who truly believes the car they drive makes them somehow more superior than the next person has some real self-esteem issues.

Update on my continuing battle with the "Boy Racer" in my office:

Having had numerous people ask me about the new car, comment on the looks/quality, talk enviously about a vRS, etc, he decided to do a search on the internet. He came up with a custom car site with Octavias :P ; found an interior shot and said "does yours really look like that?" ; uttered various comments like "don't they have those on BMWs?" . .

A bit more work, and I may even have a customer for my Ambiente when I decide to upgrade!

NB Still no negative comments from elsewhere. My only regret is I didn't stretch my finances a bit further for a higher model.

when i told some one i had a skoda they laffed at me and then eaven more when i told him it was a diesel i said i would take him out in it he said ok but when he saw it he wouldnt get in i think he was scared

i love my skoda and am proud to be seen in it
