No "turbo boost"

Featured Replies

hi guys and girls, i know own a fabia, but im hoping your all nice to me anyway as iim part of the VAG family..;)

can anyone shed some light on this.

started the car this morning, ibiza 1.9tdi sport and there was a distinct lack of "turbo Boost"

got to my destination and started the car again and all the lights went off when turning over except the "engine Diagnosis" light..still no "turbo boost" when driving..the temperature or the car was fine..when driving i put my foot down..the revs were increasing..but no actual "oommph"...

anyone know what it may be? ive booked it into my local garage, they said they could only look at it next monday..

is it okay to dirve the care in this "state" till then, with out causing any damage?

thanks guys and girls..from a mechanically inept dude..:)

Is it smoking? My guesses are.. one of the intercooler pipes is not connected properly, or the MAF has been unplugged.

There is also a sensor for the standard intercooler, which when you disconnect, basically feels like no turbo.

Were you playing with anything, or.. did it just come on?

I guess it would ultiimately depend on why the turbo's not working, but it'll most likely be one of two things: something's up with the control system - MAF, etc. - in which case the turbo's functional but not operating, and you're effectively driving an SDI; or (FAR less likely), the turbo's blown in which case it's knackered anyway and you don't need to worry! Don't forget that the car's off-boost below 1900rpm, so as long as you take it easy you won't be doing anything too harmful.

MAF failure is quite common, and an easy DIY job to detect and/or repair. Might be worth a search on here before parting with your hard-earned at the garage...

Well, if you can find anyone with VagCom sooner than that you can read the code off it.

I drive with the lorries, being more interested in mpg than mph, so I hadn't realised my acceleration had deteriorated so much until I had to pull out fast from a T-junction with a boy racer coming round the blind bend at me. I discovered I was driving an Octavia with an Sdi engine rather than the 110bhp Elegance I expected.

From all the advice on this site, I was hoping for a MAF fault rather than a VNT problem and had priced a unit on the internet. The best I found for a reputable brand (Bosch or Pierburg) was
