Felicia Guide for Enhancement ?

Featured Replies

Hi I have noticed we have a few techinicle guides and a new buying guide :-) but what I would love to see personally as its hard to find anything in english is a enhancement guide.

I think the felicia is a great little car and can be brought up to a great spec.

I see we have some real knowledge base here of people and would be good if we could get all the enhancements in one part.

ranging from the novice D.I.Y'er to,more techinicle engine modification in how to steps. Lets write our own haynes but with a difference!

i'm going to be tackling a big brake conversion using wilwood powerlite calipers and custom made bracketry soon. i will make the technical drawings freely available for anybody to use, and i may even get a few extra sets of brackets made up for people to buy

tindocat long time no see.

i think thats a sturling idea, done far to much trial and error my self.

and tom, have you ever seen a rear disc convertion in the flesh?

and tom, have you ever seen a rear disc convertion in the flesh?

not for a very long time no... iirc it used the rear brake components (stub axles, bearings, calipers, etc) from a late 16v polo... it also reqiures longer hand brake cables too...

again, it's another thing i will look into soon....

watch this space!!

i've just contacted a few ebay sellers who are breaking up late polo's, and i reckon all the bits needed to do a rear disc conversion on a felicia can be bought for under

yep cheers mate :-) the car now has a full octavia/fabia rally vinyl kit on it now in black and gold looks the nuts :-) pics to come shortly.

Its all trial and error with the felicias. for example my project this week was the trial and tribulation of an induction kit on the car...

so went and bought a max power air filter (on offer at argos hahah)

ok it never got opened and now will be brought back to the shop as on review spending the

Ugluk wrote on different post thanks :

Best low cost modifying for the 1.3 engine is to get a cat replacement pipe made up which you bolt up between MoT's or keep it in place if your engines running clean enough to pass without the cat (mine generally do, but have had some people saying theres dont).

After the car replacement pipe getting an exhaust made up with no centre box and a free flowing rear box is the next step, no need to go large and avoid boy racerery back boxs like the plague most of them are all about looks and noise, Personally I like a small janspeed box.

I would recommend keeping the original air ducting in place to begin with and replaceing the air filter element with a K+N version.

Would also recommend a good service with good plugs (and leads if its a SPI)

Other areas of tuning though can increase your speed without increasing your power, green stuff brake pads are good, some nice grippy tyres, and a thorough service of the rear brakes and some braided brake hoses will all help. If you can afford it HP coil over suspension will transform the handling.

i'v already done the de-cat thing, with an induction-kit it does make a differance.

Please Pinkskud can you document here how you done both please so it is possible for others to do so . Especially the induction kit (as I still have my air filter in the boot :-) )

thanks

well the induction kit was mounted using a custom fabricated stainless steel converter. to have one of them made up for you would cost silly money, but i happen to be a fabricator, and made it at work.

as for the de-cat. there are two main types of cat. the 1.6 style, and the 1.3 style.

i have a 1.6 but the 1.3 is easyer. what i did is bye a second hand cat from cars dismantled by Roadside Rescue for all your skospares and then go at it with a big stick ad a hammer. once the cat is hollowed out you could get the shell cut out and a bit of pipe welded in. or you could just bolt it back in to the car, but it will sound abit tinny.
