Did you have just Eibach springs OR Eibachs + Koni FSDs?

Hi' date=' I had the Eibach springs and Koni FSDs. My weekly 250 mile round trip to the office tomorrow will reveal more but I'm already very impressed.[/quote']

Ahhh, I thought you had standard dampers. That means Im still waiting for feedback on the eibach lowering springs and standard damper combination.

Hey FocusZtec; c'mon stop pussy footing about. Looking at your 'signature' you like to play with the spec on your car big time, so what is wrong with going the Full Monty and getting Eibach springs with Koni FSDs.

You know your Konis with the Sports you, and I had in the past, have; the FSDs do the same for the handling but without the downside of making the ride too firm.

I have FSDs on OEM spring 'cos with a long term bad back and needing to keep things comfortable I didn't want to go too far with stiffer springs, the handling is spot on but the FSDs made the ride comfortable.

Most guys here reckon the Eibach springs/FSD shocks is a great combination; besides if you are dismatling the supension to fit the springs, why not fit new shocks as well?

Me; pussyfooting around when it comes to modifying cars???!!!! :finger: I dont think so ;)

Fitting the FSD's will void my warranty on the suspension components of the car and Im not really too keen on doing that tbh. Im having the dealer fit the springs pre PDI when it arrives from the factory mainly to keep the warranty intact so this would be a backwards step in this respect.

Besides which (and all the dirty forum members stop reading now please...) I do like a hard ride :o

Appreciate and understand your point about Warranty; you have to take a risk occasionally though.

I had my FSDs fitted the day after I got my vRS, my dealer knew all about it and on collection gave me the Corporate "it will void your warranty" speach. I said - "I know" but I suppose it is me that has to live with the car, not them!

I even let them drive it a few weeks later and they agreed (unofficially, of course) it was a better setup than standard!! Go on, be bold, take a little risk.

 You are talking to a guy that bought a brand new Focus and had a supercharger strapped to the engine and suspension and brakes totally replaced within the first six months. By the end of the three year warranty (that would have been...) it was running a totally built engine, turbo'ed to 340+bhp, laughing gas, bilstein coilovers, Tarox six pots, RS gearbox and quaife lsd, carbon fibre bonnet and wings.... Ahhh, single days. Now I have an 11 month old baby and a BIG mortage....

I think ive just grown old!!! :o:rolleyes: :(

NO, you have not grown old. You have just accepted the sense of responsibility brought about by marriage, parenthood and house ownership; it happens to a lot of us; but we are all still young at heart. :D Well done ....... however:-

Fitting FSDs will make the ride of the vRS so much more comfortable whilst keeping/upgrading the handling control (particularly with Eibachs) that will keep your wife and baby happy on count 1 and you happy on count 2. Go on, you know it makes sense, unless ....

you are trying to camoflage the fitting of eibachs by your dealer on the basis they are authorised and 'darling they came with the car', as 'after-market' modding is off-limits! :(

LOL - you make a very strong case Mr Bahnstormer. :D

I'll wait and see how the car handles with just the springs and then I'll report back and go from there.

And im lucky on the second count - I dont think my missus would be happy travelling in a non modified car!:D

Definitely lucky; probably one of the reasons you married her!

Good luck and best wishes.

Anyone tried the full sports suspension kit? Part number:FAA629002 (

Surely not needed as the Shock Absorbers are already uprated on the vRS compared with other spec models. It is either springs (to lower the car by a further 20mm from vRS OE spec) and/or aftermarket shocks i.e. Koni FSDs.

fair point :)

AFAIK the OEM upgrade kit is Eibach shocks as well.

Dam Stu - why did you have to tell me that!!!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhh.

From previous experience Eibach springs and shocks are just brilliant!

Another call to the dealer then....... :o

Yes; but IMHO there will be nothing in the difference between the spec of the uprated Eibach shocks (part of the kit) and the OEM shocks which are uprated over the spec of shocks on other Octys. So you would be buying something which you have already.

Surely the full kit is only of benefit to someone with, say, an L&K, Sport or Elegance who wants uprated handling. although for my two penneth Eibach springs with Koni FSDs would be the way to go!

No I think the Eibach shocks would be different to the OEM setup, even on the vRS.

The OEM shocks are a sports variant but not to the same level as the aftermarket option.

However I would recommend the FSD rather than the Eibach.

Ditto :D:thumbup:

I'd have to agree with what Stu is saying - to me though; a spring and damper combination from the same manufacturer and one with such a good pedigree as Eibach (who actually do test and develop the kits on the specific car) must be the best combination available.... well thats imo of course.

On the last car I had, I had five different damper and spring combinations in there at anyone time. Easily the best was (actually on a friends identicle car) the eibach pro sprot kit consisting of -30mm springs and dampers. They just seemed to offer the least compomise al round when fitted and seemed very factory in the way they did their thing; just heightened in all respects if that makes sense.

I will investigate further anyway.

I had a full Eibach setup on my Fabia and I can assure you the FSD/Eibach combo on WW's car is far superior.

The FSD gives the best of both worlds, precise handling when being pushed and OEM comfort when not.

...and thats exactly why I liked the full eibach setup previously. I have eibachs and konis on the octy 4x4 so I know they work well together (although they arent FSD's of course). Thanks for the input anyway, I am off to consider the options further. :)

Well, just been quoted

picking my vrs up on friday!!!! have fitted the rear lowering springs today and will fit the fronts tomorrow 4 a grand total of

I ordered my Eibach's 4 weeks ago. Still waiting for them to arrive. My dealer told me that it could take 4-6 weeks more. Pretty lousy thing.

  • 2 years later...
