Eibach lowering springs on VRS estate anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Does anyone here have the Eibach springs installed as per the Skoda Accesories brochure? Im interested for my soon to be VRS estate and presumably if they are fitted by the dealer when I pick the car up; my warranty will be unaffected in that area?

Ive had Eibach springs on previous cars and they have been superb; better handling without compromising the ride quality.

Any opinions would be welcomed.

They could be fitted by any VAT registered garage and it shouldn't affect wty.

They offer them as a genuine approved accessory?

Blimey, never thought i'd see the day..lol.

Also if they are fitted by the dealer at PDi they would then be covered by the full three year warranty on the car. If they are fitted post PDi I believe they have 12 months. Not sure what warranty you get if they are fitted DIY or outside of the dealer network.

Stu & Ross - thanks for the responses, I would get them to do it pre PDI for the 3 year cover - good advice.

Im guessing then that the chance of someone on here having them already fitted to a VRS for feedback is going to be very unlikely then? :(

Cheers,

Lee

For the Estate I think it is as well to buy them from the dealer anyway, for some reason the price of the Hatch is wat too high - Supply & Demand maybe??

I have Koni FSD's and Eibachs on mine - Lovely!!!!

So I could just source them from the dealer and goto any backstreet garage to get them fitted (assuming VAT registered) instead of paying the extortionate labour rates and it won't affect the warranty? Cool :)

EDIT: for backstreet garage read Revolution motorsport on Gatehead Quays probably!

Gut feeling tells me to go for these but I dont like changing the spec of the car in this way with no one else on here having done it already with any available feedback. Hmmm, what to do

I think the car will sit nicer over the 18's but I hope the ride quality doesnt suffer - previous experience of eibach springs says it should be all good but there is still that nagging doubt.

Cheers for the reply's anyhow.

My thoughts entirely. I suppose if the ride is to hard you can always change back to standard springs?

...and Ive just noticed that the springs arent specifically for the VRS - they are generic for the entire range. So not as well matched to the VRS dampers as they could be and how can the heavier Diesel sit on top of the same front springs as the petrol models and it look right on both?

Am I being too an&lly retentive on this issue guys?! :o

I'd tend to agree. When I got the eibach springs for my golf there were different ones depending on the model.

I'm about to purchace set of Eibach to my new Octavia vRS Combi. Does anyone have any pic's of new Octavia vRS with Eibach spings fitted?

Are you getting the part number specified above from a dealer? I think everyone would be interested to see what it looks like as I gather these have only become available.

According to the Eibach website the only model that has a different spring set is the 1.4 and 1.6 which has a slightly lighter front end - All others are the same.

-20mm on the vRS which is what Skoda quote. Be interested to see one in the flesh as I bet they are standard Eibach Springs which should have a part number on them. It costs a lot to seek type approval so I'd be surprised if they'd bothered to do it again.

Like I said above there are already a few of us running with Eibachs on NeilS is due to have or may already have some fitted on his estate from the recent GB.

Not sure I understand what this means Stu, can you enlighten me further pls?

My of my friends has a onlinestore that includes Eibach springs for RS. Here's the link. Text only in finnish. Hope that helps.

I don't get it...

Is the suspension on the vRS, as I once thought, the same as the "Sports Suspension" option available on cooking models? Looking at the options catalogue online, sports suspension ("Not suitable for 4x4 or production fitted sports suspension" - so not the vRS, then) lowers the car by 30mm.

From this I'd assumed that a vRS sits 30mm lower than a non-sporty Octy.

So... How come, if the lowering springs lower a standard car by 32mm and a vRS by 20mm, that's only a 12mm ride height difference? Does the vRS sit only 12mm lower than a standard car? Is it that vRS suspension and "sports" suspension are not the same thing? Does a standard car with sports suspension actually sit lower than a vRS? (would explain why standard cars with this option don't look like they need lowered and the vRS does...)

Mark, Im no expert but I had assumed the following...

Yes, the VRS is only 12mm lower as standard than the normal models

The Eibachs lower the standard less sporty versions 32mm and 20mm on the VRS (confirmed by dealer)

The VRS surely wouldnt run the same setup as a 'sport' model - the VRS has a unique lowering spring AND damper setup. ??? ...and this is my main concern with specifying a lowering spring for this model that is good for the entire model lineup apparently!

I will be contacting Eibach UK on Monday for some clarification on whether this setup was actually tested and developed.

Lee

Any other options on offer............AP Racing 6 pots or Brembo's ?.........

I would be very interested in your findings, Lee!

Mark, I will of course update this thread with the info I find out. Watch this space...

I'd definately be interested in the outcome of this too Lee :)

If you're right, Lee, this would explain why I always thought that "standard" Octys with the 17" alloys and sports suspension option never looked like they had the "tiptoes" look the the vRS does. I'd previously put it down to chunkier alloy design and possibly higher profile tyres...

Stu, just back from 2 weeks hols so tomorrow I will be arranging a date with JKM to fit them to my estate and will be pleased to report back on my findings soon as...

:)
