UPDATE

Well, I have just come off the phone to both Eibach UK and Skoda UK. Eibach couldnt really help as the part code was a manufacturers one not an aftermarket product one. ALl they stated was that they would have specifically tested and developed the spring with all models in mind ie the ones that Skoda wanted covered and therefore say these springs are suitable for.

I then phoned Skoda UK. Very curteous and very efficient. The lady took my query and spoke directly with the technical team. Apparently they had these springs on various models last week due to a query the week before!!!

They have confirmed that the springs are indeed suitable for both the petrol and diesel VRS engines in either hatchback or estate format. Ride quality will not be adversely affected with these springs.:D

That gives me the confidence to tell the dealer to add them to the list. :D

Didn't you change dampers, too, Stu?

Best quote so far is 141.25 parts+217.37labour =

I now have two dealers quoting:

Oooo, I will take that price back to my dealer and ask them to break mine down fully - they said it booked at 4.5 hours and needed a headlamp reset afterwards which was included.

Cheers for the info,

Lee

That's carp as the PDI includes headlamp calibration anyway!

More like an hour for lunch on YOU :dtp:

That's quite some cost to have some springs fitted guys - The full FSD and Eibach setup isn't a huge amount more.

3.1 hours labour @87.50+VAT

That's scary money. If I buy they certainly won't be fitted by Skoda - although I understand why you guys will be going that route.

87.50 + VAT per hour for Skoda... Wow....

Just thinking about this again - Didn't you both order Xenons??

Yep - xenons.

I know they will auto level - but I assume if there is a major movement in shipping etc that they check for it at PDI anyway?

There might be rounding error in the hours (which is where I calculated the hourly rate from) - but the current non-discounted Skoda labour rate is:

Maybe Porsche are aligning prices across VAG, eh!

Still a little way to go:

"A little" being right...

Like I said above there are already a few of us running with Eibachs on NeilS is due to have or may already have some fitted on his estate from the recent GB.

Just fitted today, 90 miles ago and I'm very impressed with the improvements especially to the ride quality. The body control is better with far less diving under firm braking and and less roll in the corners both of which inspire extra confidence.

Most of my journey back from JKM was on the sodden M27 and M3 and at motorway speeds the ride is more comfortable with less "thump" over ridges and much less bounce on dips. I didn't notice any difference in road noise which I think in the Octavia is mainly down to tyres anyway.

Speed humps are the only thing I'm a little uncertain about and I'm not sure this is going to describe it brilliantly. It feels like the back end firms up when it hits the bump so when it "bounces" back it's met by the new firmer suspension. This makes the car feel like it received a very small shove in the back. Having said that, after a few I changed the way I drove over them to be on the brakes when the front wheels contact and on the accelerator when the back wheels contact and that made quite a difference. Anyway I didn't buy the car or the mods to drive over speed humps so I'm off in search of a few twisty bits.

Thanks to everyone here for their advice and positive recommendations, to Stu for setting up the GB and to JKM for their excellent service. :)

I have the same with the drop down after a bump but I think that's normal for a lowered/stiffened setup.

I have noticed much better taction in the wet, especially in corners.

You oming to the meet on Friday Neil?

Did you have just Eibach springs OR Eibachs + Koni FSDs?

If you had the FSDs fitted as well (as I have, but on OEM springs) this will provide the major improvement in ride quality - the springs make it all a bit stiffer and, as you say, control the nosedive, under braking and limit roll in corners.

Hi, I had the Eibach springs and Koni FSDs. My weekly 250 mile round trip to the office tomorrow will reveal more but I'm already very impressed.

50 mm H&R on 19". Perfect! :)
