Media hosting sites...

Featured Replies

Just a quick question for all you photo-whores out there:rofl:

Which site do you use to host your pictures? i know photobucket seems to be a common one (i use it) but i find it a PITA if i want to upload lots of pictures... ideally id like an application frontend where i can just chuck a folder at it and it will upload the full folder.

What sites/hosting do you use?

photobucket. :o

I agree the uploading thing isn't the best but I don't tend to do high volumes at the same time.

Sounds like you need some kind of FTP setup?

Photobucket cos the only other ones I've ever found are things like image shack which are, quite frankly, poo!!!

I have got the knack of uploading lots of pics fast anyway

I don't mean to hijack your thread but i have a question about photobucket....I just uploaded one of my vids from photobucket onto the IOW festival thread, when I clicked on the video image linky on the thread to watch it back it looked like everyone would have access to all my pics and vids on my album

Is this really the case or was it because it recognised it was me accessing it because I was still logged into my photobucket account? I wiped it off the thread quick just in case :D

Col - check Fotopic out. You can do FTP upload with them. I find it works well, and you get quite a bit of space (250mb free IIRC), and quite a bit of design flexibility over displaying them.

I tend to use it to host pics of family events, stuff like that - not sure how it is linking back to forums etc, which quite a lot of people here seem to use PB for. Worth a shot though.

I also use fotopic. Most of my online stuff is there (xavier.fotopic.net)

Free and as Steve said, rather handy with FTP upload capabilities :)

You can use the Flock browser to do bulk uploads to Photobucket - drag and drop them on, select album and size, press go!

Yes, they will have pixipoos, unless you set up a password. If you know someones photobucket address you can access all their pics. You can get their address from the link they have hosted a pic from. However, you can set it up so that if you send soemone a link to your bucket, or they try to access it, they have to type in a password (obviously you would make this different from your main password to get into your account, it is purely a viewing password!!

I use Photobucket, with FLOCK for bulk uploading - its brilliant!!!

Oh as an aside... ive now got a addon for firefox called ImageBot which allows uploading of multiple pics.. helps coz i cba to download flock

I've just found the joys of PicasaWeb over the last few days. Works very well, the web interface for visitors especially. And uploading is a breeze, very nicely integrated. Makes it easier that the PC program is such a joy to use as well I suppose.

1Gb (and growing) of standard storage is very welcome too :)
