Hi guys, random query here, there is a noise coming from the passenger side footwell, it sounds like what can only be described as the bubbling noise a radiator in your house makes when its got air in. Whats down there that could be making that noise? and is it common/curable. first thoughts are Air Con or coolant pipes that may be near the bulkhead? its a very audiable noise but not intrusive.

Do you have a CAI fitted ?

Mine does it since having one fitted.

Is this during running, or when you turn it off?

My Mk1 used to gurgle when it was turned off, so I assumed it was climatronic related.

Its almost certainly related to the climatronic a/c system, so nothing to worry about. The water in the evaporator has to go somewhere, and IIRC the drain hole is under the car on the passenger side.

yes it gurgles when the ignition is on but engine off too! i guess its climatronic. thanks guys! thought i had a secret water feature down there somewhere!lol. the only thing worse than a rattle is not knowing what it is!

Aha!!! So I'm not going mad then - I've had exactly the same thing on my vRS with Climatronic for ages now and its been bugging me.

So I presume this noise is normal and not an indication that the system needs to be re-gassed or anything like that?

I'd never noticed a noise from it, but yes that's about where the drain from the Climatronic is (been warned about the "water leak" by helpful people several times).

Ah, this is good to hear, I thought I might have had a problem with my car as it also makes strange gurgling/clunking noises from the passenger side footwell!

ive just noticed mine recently and it was after i fitted a cai. im not too bothered unless i get a puddle in the footwell.

mine still does this, but i must say i dont notice it any more. Glad to see old threads do serve a purpose!

Has anyone managed to solve where this bubbling noise comes from? It started about a month ago and seems to be happening more now. Would just be nice to sort it if poss.
