Seized caliper ?

Featured Replies

change my pads awhile ago and noticed a part of the caliper was seized solid.

I've done abit of research and found its called the sliding pins.

can somone confirm this is correct?

Its the 2 boltsd that hold the outter caliper to the main inner part of the caliper that bolts too the hub.

either way, mine has come stuck so how do i go about free'ing it?

I read that i should pull it out and copper grease it?

Also, is this acceptable on a 30k 2.5year old car?

I though this would be warrenty work but ****** at skoda said they should be greased when the pads are change, when i told him i changed pads for first time and that it was already seized he just said it was classed as weare and tear?

so yeah, any comments questrions of sudjestions will be very much apprichated, thanks

yes the sliding pins can seize , but usually there has been water ingress passed the seal/bellows , for it to happen

you should be able to free the pin off with a little gentle persuassion from some Mole grips and copious amunts of WD40 , then as you read in another thread a bit of coper slip on the pin will stop it seizing again , Skoda may do repair kits for the pins , though not sure on this
