The 1.8T engine, cooling down.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does the oil and water keep pumping around for a while after you turn off the engine?

I was excersing the car a little the oth3er day and the turbo and manifold was bright red. So i left it running until it stopped glowing. Do I need to do this?

As an aside, I got a cable from ebay for 15 quid. Works nicely and I have been monitoring my engine and looking at the huge number of sensors on the car. Pretty cool... (for a geek like me). I might log some runs if i go santa pod. And then log it again with a jabba remap... that would be interesting...

Anyway yeah back to the first quiestion...

Cheers.

No, there's no run on pumps fitted as standard. Leaving the engine running after a hard run is always a good idea on turbo'd cars.

When the engine stops so does the oil pump.

The turbo and manifold where bright red? is that normal? geeze where did you go SILVERSTONE! THE SUN?!

Haha no I was just giving it some beans around the countside, after a long drive home on the motorway. It's perfectly normal for the turbo to glow red after some enthusiastic driving! It looked nice reflecting off the silver heat shield... awwwwwwwwww!

is that it in your signiture? :)

Well, glad you are enjoying the motor:thumbup:

Thought you were going to baby it and use something else for Santa Pod/trackdays;)

As to the question ,as per what EddyH said
