Are you picking up your dealer supplied car soon? FREE INSURANCE

Featured Replies

You may not be aware (and why should you when the dealers aren't  ) - but Skoda UK offer free 7-day insurance.

Skoda's free 7 day insurance:

You can change-over your insurance at your leisure (within the 7 days)

What this means is for any dealer supplied car new or used if you aren't sure of the date of handover or it's a bit of a faff swapping over old/new vehicles you don't need to worry.

Skoda will insure your car for 7-days (dealer can request extension/new dates if there is a delay etc) so you can drive it off the forecourt with tax etc and sort out your insurance later.

This is actually supposed to enable more sales and help out the dealer (as insurance paperwork never seems to arrive at the right place, at the right time in the right name or reg!!)

So now one less headache if you just want to get in your car and drive away :D .

Take the FREE insurance and move on.

The insurance is run by Zurich Insurance - not the last name in value.

It's a general VAG deal, my mum has just bought a new Golf and made use of the same offering.

It's an industry deal, in a sense.

M-B, BMW, VAG as you mentioned, Saab, Renault, Honda .... etc.

It helps out the dealer more really, so they can tax the car and get it off the forecourt.

The upside to the insurer (Zurich for VAG group, Norwich Union for M-B/Chrysler, Prudential for BMW/Mini) is they get to know all your details, car and policy change date - probably ask you about you home insurance aswell.

You could always ignore them or tell them you live in a box if you don't wish to divulge your details (obviously they WILL need to know your car related history for the insurance to be legal)

Not if you live in Northern Ireland they don't. :thumbdwn:

Sorry about that phlashbios, but as with any insurance there are actually a number of restrictions (locality being one of them).

UK Mainland only (eg NI and Channel Islands or any of the rest of the world - obviously you can'y buy you car here and merrily drive off on hols)

Age limits: 21-75 years

Maximum points: 9 points

there are probably more.

At the very least there is also a requirement to have a driving licence! (ie to have passed or not been disqualified) - but a couldn't really list all the T&Cs.

This is also quite a "multi-national" forum - so I should really have also said IF you are buying from Skoda UK (not Skoda Sweden etc)

Try Skoda Insurance if you have young drivers. 1.2 Silverline Estate 53 Plate, 2 adults..(
