7000 miles on variable service!!!!

Featured Replies

My 55 1.9 Superb had ots first service at 17500 miles, now 7000 miles later, it tells me it needs servicing again! I called the garage where i purchased it and who serviced it and they say to ignore it if all the levels in the engine (oil etc) are okay. Suggest it wont need servicing for another 10000 miles. What do you guys think I should do? Mu driving pattern has remained much the same as previously - but possibly more long motorway runs.

Cheers

my first service was at 13,000 and in 1000 miles the second is due at 29,000 ...a lot of short journeys with the occasional 50 mile trip....so 7,000 does sound a bit odd,

It physically cant be 7000 miles as the miniumim limit is 9300.

The car is either set up incorrectly or it has been topped up with non variable oil.

My first service came up at 15000 miles, though I only had the car from 7500 miles so had no idea how it was driven for the first 7500 miles. Now at 27000 miles, and hoping the service level indicator will stay off beyond 30k.

7000 definately sounds wrong. With the variable servicing, what's the maximum time between services? Is it 2 years? (Assuming the car does very low miles).

2 years, 20k or "Service" on Dash IIRC

If set correctly of course.

Isn't it 30k on VS diesels?

I have looked at it in detail and it was serviced on 90/12/2006 with 16402 miles on the clock. It now reads 25308 miles with a service in 500 miles warning - so will be 28302 miles (roughly) when needs servicing - so about 9400 miles - which is more than the 9300 mile minimum. Odd though as mostly long motorway runs. I used BP Ultimate most of the time and had 3 tanks where I used STP cleaner - would that cause it?

Clearly, I mean, it will be serviced at 25808!!! - Mafematiks is diffikult.

Mine came on at 16500 and I took it to get serviced yesterday to be charged

Non PD diesels are 30k max on variable.
