Top speed anyone?

Featured Replies

Just out of interest, has anyone tried to see how fast these little furbys actually go?

I had a little play with a seat cupra yesterday on the motorway (auto-bahn obviosly:D )

he was just about keeping up,i then looked down and i was doing 130mph! i kept going and started to loose him, i hit 142mph!

My cars been re-mapped, but the clutch is on the way out, plus i had the a/c on!

Im thinking with the a/c off, new clutch and when i get my lowering spring she'l do 150! is this normal?!

Whats the spec on the cupra's?

AC will make very very little difference as will the clutch. the Seat is smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic with the same engine so they *should* be faster if the same mods :)

Also worth noting is the speedo is so far out as to be useless :) Indicated 117 GPS 108, private runway nach.

A remapped one sounds about right - just over 140... Seen one wiped off the clock though! :)

as above, speedo will be out by a bit at that sort of speeds. my octavia isn't as far out as 150 indicated was 145 gps i think.

All i no is it felt bl**dy quick! I have no idea what my cars running at bhp wise, just re-map and pd160. Thw bloke couldnt say how much the map would put it up by but there was one guy on here who got 196.5bhp out of a remap, green cotton and pd160 so im hoping my Furb's in the 180's.

Are the cupras 160bhp?

190+ won't happen on a realistic rolling road but 170-180 seems possible given others results :)

This was taken on at jabba sport, they settled at 195bhp in the end, il try and find the post

You didn't dream it - IIRC it was Hellfire's old Fabia. However, let's just say some rolling roads are more optimistic than others ;)

Chris

on a private road , I once saw 142 on the speedo, but (as someone else said) they are off, my GPS said 132, so around the manufacturers figures there!

How about the Ibiza Cupra? 160 bhp

Cupra R's aren't fast. Anyone who says they are. Please drive my old one.

Drive my Polo, then yes they are fast.

fast is relative snoopie, to my brother in his 120bhp focus my octavia on low boost running around 180-190bhp was very fast and surprised him, a cupra is faster than a remapped fabia vRS too if they run the same or a bit more than my octavia was and that was faster than a fabia.

Wouldnt have been the cupra R then! possible it was the FR, it was to quick to be the 150 deisel (which i thought the new diesels were 160BHP)

Either way a friendlt wave was exchanged so it was all good!

Somewhat different. Two people sitting in a LCR, weighs over 1500kg.

It eat's it's front disc brakes, and the power doesn't get put to use, due to the pure weight of the thing.

Talking of speed, i had a race with a mercades CLK-class cabriolet and a panned it o-big-styleeeeee!!!! it was the best feeling and again very friendly race, both him and his mrs looked very shocked!

I then went and had a look on there web site and the engine spec on em is sh*te!

184bhp

250nm torque

0-62 - 9.3!

I should have got out and ran, still would have beaten him!

Skodas beating mercs and BMW's.............who would of thought!

update:

Looking at the website it was prob the CLK280

0-62 - 7.8

Not so sure about all that. My last car was a 225 S3 and on the Autobahn I struggled to shake off a very persistant Fabia VRs. TBH it took a few gear shifts and some hard acceleration runs (we wer playing a bit) to make much of a difference.

Needless to say when my wifes old 1.4 Fabia was up for change we went straight for the VRs and never looked back.

The one I met must have been chipped. I hope so because at the time I was gutted that a 12k Skoda could make such an impression on a car over twice the value.

I must say the Fabia VRs has to be one of the best wolves in sheep's clothing I have driven!
