Impulse buy that I'm NOT regretting. It drives superbly and the fit and finish is fantastic. Thanks for several of you buying some bits from the Fabia from me.

I do like that colour.

Nice enough cars, just a bit too odd for me.

My mate works for Honda and has one as his company car - It feels so space age inside with the beautiful dash and floating dials - you'll love it! Good luck

Still got the Skoda key ring I see? ;)

Is that a Monkey Puzzel Tree in your front garden ??

The car looks great by the way Chris

It is yes.

It is yes.

 Just got one myself - its only about 12 inches tall though

By the way, what sort of mpg are your getting out of the Civic so far ?

The interior photo reminds me of when my friend bought a new posh car and it looked like the inside of a jumbo jet's take-off panel. Dunno what the horsepower of jumbos is though. I suppose Father Christmas might know in reindeer power.

Looks pretty good, but aren't you supposed to be in frame with your polishing cloth just before the pigeons and seagulls fly overhead (or we arrive with custard pies)? :rubchin:

Ive only done 200 miles and its mainly in town. Averaging 38mpg which is better than my Fabia vRS was on 200 miles. It feels really tight at the moment so I'm hopeful that the performance and MPG will improve

Great car, although a bit too funky/futuristic for me! Will be interesting to follow your progress with it and see how the economy comes on as the engine loosens up

Chris

Looks good

Erm, aren't the Honda Civics the 'old Folk's cars' ? :P

How did you know I'm overdue - again :(

Knew I 'd get quick retort.

Looks very nice - but shouldn't a young bloke be driving this particular model :P

You picked the right colour for the car - suits it well. Some cars - some colours - just 'fit'

What's it red-lined at - 5k ?

i think the new Civic looks ok , except for the rear third , it just seems muddled/cluttered/busy IMHO

looks nice though Chris

Like the futuristic design, whats that little box in the area of the right corner of the front screen?

Looks like a TALEX to me :magnify:

Great car, although a bit too funky/futuristic for me!

Chris

Strange isn't it - I remember thinking the same about the likes of the Ford Ka and the Mk1 Focus 8-10 years ago....... wonder how long it will be until the new Civic dosen't seem that funky or futuristic and just looks like a 'modern' car?

better loosen it up before the keswick meet then, if you wanna keep up ;)

If I remember last time, your car smelled badly of burning rubber. You need to be smoother on the throttle !! ;)

I see your car has the same wheel design an my 5door 1.8 EX Sport, any of the 3door cars (called Type S Sport) I have seen here in Ireland have - to my eye a much nicer 5 spoke wheel fitted. Did you have choice of style or are they the only one's offered:confused:

Have you tried, and if yes been able to find any company out there who do after market extras for the Civic? I find that in the or after rain, water comes pouring into the car under breaking or cornering if the window is slightly open:thumbdwn: , and would love to get a set of wind deflectors, but cant find any1 who lists anything at all for the new Civic:thumbdwn:  .

Must agree with the others about the colour of your car - really looks great:thumbup: , and although I do like the colour of my car, I had no choice in it, it was a case of take that one or wait for 5mths for a special order to come in  :thumbdwn:

Are you having any issues with the stereo? While I find the sound and clarity of the system very good  , the reception on the radio is nothing as good as in my past Skoda's :thumbdwn: . Maybe down to the built in rather than an external / bee-sting style  . Keeps losing signal from my iTrip, but am booked in the get the Honda iPod adaptor fitted next week so that should not be a problem to much longer :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Jealous.

Congratulations on a truly fine car, Chris

I test drove a 1.8 SE the other day and I fell in love with it (the test drive was only to pass time) now unfortunately I want one.

Fantastic car, step up from the vRS imo!

(oh and the way they handle!!)

:)

I'm seeing more an more of these on the roads up here , and liking them more every time I see them! Thers a gorgeous bright blue metallic 3 door one in town and it looks the bizz! It looks like I may have to trawl round a few Honda dealers , come car replacement time! I wonder if they will be down to the

Oh dear !! Have I set off a major defection??

Update:

The car is loosening up nicely now, the mpg is averaging about 38 around town (Not been on a long run yet, but I did 45mpg on a short motorway trip to Manchester)

Radio reception is not brilliant and my iPod FM thing does go off tune, but it did in the Fabia too.

Ive fitted some perspex fog light covers (They are prone to breaking apparantly.... Civinfo - Honda Civic Forum ) and a set of 'Type S' stickers on the side (eBay)

IMGP0160.jpg

Slight niggle is that the so called 'Magic Seats' (Supposed to memorise where they were) are NOT magic at all, just have to get used to adjusting them every time I move the drivers seat forward. Issue in the Forum

Apart from that....Brilliant!! As you say walkie, the handling is far better than the Fabia, steering is direct and precise (probably due to 'fly by wire') and the ESP actually works!!No wheel spin at all!!

I miss the Xenons (no option on the Type S ) BUT have uprated the bulbs to Philips Extreme and LED sidelights and they are very good. AND......The bulbs were easy to get to!! They even tell you in the manual to remove the expansion tank to get access. (thats refreshing..trusting the owner to do this!!) Imagine VAG putting that in their Manuals....NO WAY!!

One last thing. I was told rear visibility was an issue and the lack of rear wiper was a pain. Not really noticed. Reversing is easier than the Fabia IMO and if you treat the car as a saloon, then you dont really miss the rear wiper as the water clears as you get going anyway.

  • 5 months later...

Do you still have the Fabia?

I was wondering why you still have the Skoda Keyring,

I assume Honda do supply key rings;)
