Standard Dump Valve failing?!!

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Last week when driving my vRS to work I notice the turbo started to make a whirring noise rather than the usual whistle. It was really noticeable but didn't seem to affect the performance. I went to work as usual but when I started her up afterwards the engine was really noisy when accelerating and there was a real loss of performance. By the time I got home she was really sounding like a bag of sh**e.

Next day on starting her up she was sounding like there was a hole in the exhaust. I took it up to local skoda garage who told me that a pipe had come loose from the turbo at the manifold. They stripped the turbo down, reconnected all the pipes and she's right as rain.

I'm not mechanically minded and was wondering if this was the Dump Valve which had failed??

Expert opinions please!!! :dunce:

Cheers

Doesnt sound like it, if the re circ failts at most you get a slight whoosing noise on overrun, certianly sounds like a pipe come off.
