Not too keen

Thought I'd put my amateur thoughts down.

Went to see the new Fabia. I'd seen that people said it looked tall and thin and a bit ungainly and thought I'd never notice (not being an expert!). However I did and I thought it looked rather odd. The car was in black which isn't the best colour on a dull day but I wasn't all that impressed. having said that the inside looked much more modern and welcoming.

I'm waiting for the Vrs and hopefully that will look lower and sleeker although you can't do anything with the basic dimensions.

hhhmmmm not liking the general consensus that's comming on here.... was considering my next car to be the new vRS......... maybe I'll have to go for the 500 arbarth...... ;)

odd looks aside i was most dissapointed with the interior, imho i don't think it is the huge step forward i was expecting and those interior door handles are the cheapest nastiest things i have ever seen on any car.:thumbdwn:

I can tell you have never had an Austin Mini Metro....lolol:D

I agree with the comment about the interior door handles, they look like they will snap at the slightest firm tug.

The rest of the interior is just plain Roomster.

I know what you mean :D , my mum & dad had one years ago.....

i stand corrected:rofl:

The new vRS is going to have to be something very special to make me part with my hard earned. Looks like I'll be keeping hold of my SE for a few years, The new shape is sh**e

i agree its proving a problem for me im gonna pass me test soon and decided to get a vrs...insurance just take my money and dont say how much( i prefer ignorence to reality lol )...but i dont know if i can be bothered to wait for the new vrs when i like the current one. before it was released the new fabia looked nice and sounded promising but from reading all the stuff on here then they have some big early on teething problems and im just not sure its gonna be worth the wait for the thing. if it looks like the first then i would get it as i like the understated look. as for the more rally based look part of me likes it but i couldent live with it as people would just keep staring and probably laughing.

I saw my first one yesterday on the way home from work, I’ve have turds that look more appealing.

I'm writing from italy and i buyed a new fabia type "Style" (the same of "2") 1.2 70 BHP, i went to see several times, and every time the style of model y 2007 seems me nicer and nicer.

SO WHY I READ ALWAYS BAD OPINIONS ON THE EXTERIOR STYLE?

My new fabia will arrive soon, and i'm very happy.

I'm not happy of seeing the briskodians so disturbed with new fabia

It is a matter of taste really.

Italians have style and taste, just look at the Alfa Romeo, always been stylish, maybe it is about time you guided us tasteless brits on what style is :D:)

doesn't matter how the mk 2 fabia vrs is styled the plain truth of the matter is you can't polish a turd. And to our italian briskodian i say this if you like it thats all that matters and you will enjoy it no matter what anyone says about it,as what we write are only our opinions.

Or even an original Mk 1 Mini with the wire loops. The add on boys did a roaring trade in replacement chrome handles.

Lol when I was a small child my Dad had a Yellow Mk1 Mini De Luxe (with the small corner over riders on the bumper) , I can't remember the door handles , all I can remember is the bright Red seats and the chrome trims around the door bins and cubby holes either side of the back seats!

OT

When I was an apprentice, my engineer offered me a lift home in his brand new Mini, I jumped in this three hour old car and pulled the door shut with the small chrome thingy, oops, I waited until I got home and passed him the part :o

An interesting comparison with the Austin Metro. My 1982 Metro is the only car to have equalled my 2004 Fabia vRS for unreliabilty and poor build quality, although the Metro's handling was better...and so were the dealers.

Tye new fabia does indeed look a bit strange, hardly surprising when they took styling queues the Mingster. Maybe the vRS will improve things, as with the Fabia MK1.

I just can't stand the front end on the new Fabia, I'd go back to a mk1 vRS everytime over all the current new range. As it's been said in this thread they're going to have to do some major work on the bumpers and that front end if the new vRS is going to look half decent.
