REVO Tuning Free Trial

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if the 5 hour REVO free trial expires 5 hours from the time it is done or is it 5 hours driving time?

Cheers.

Hi

It is driving trial

Sarah

does that mean if you drive in reverse you get more time added on:rofl:

This is not the views of anyone else but myself, based on my own experiences.

When I had my map done by Angel, before they came out, they asked has it had a Revo trial, if so they wouldn't do the map. I replied no, as didn't have any info that it had.

When the map was done, the Angel engineer said that it had had a Revo trial map at one point, and it had made it difficult for him to remap the car using his software.

He also asked me was the car running correctly before, as the Revo map had left the ECU with some very weird settings rather than return to original which would have been affecting the overall performance of the car.

Although the mapping to longer than anticipated, they didn't charge me any extra, and the car now flies.

Anyone else had this? I'm tempted to get a trial but dont want it to mess my ecu up if I decide not to go with revo.

It shouldn't pose too much of a problem except that another tuner may want to flash 'virgin' software to the car first.

I believe the trial works off the service indicator which is set to 5 hours, so I'm wondering if there's a way to clear that and leave it in trial mode..... for an extended trial period, obviously ;)

I've got a cable and vag-com...

No idea how it'd be done tho!!

I have also heard that other mappers can't map it after an revo trial.....

The revo map does NOT return the car back to the settings you had before the trial. The settings revert to a REVO version of the standard map. The Revo software remains on the ECU after the trial, just de-activated. There has been much talk about this on here in the past, and general concensus is, that after the trial is finished you return to the original dealer that put the trial on, and ask them to reflash the car with your original software.

I had the Revo trial on my mk1 Octy VRs and ended up going to Jabba to get my map done, they had no problem overwriting the Revo software

Jabba do mapping a different way on the mk1 vRS, the mappers that will have problems are those that first read the current map from the ECU to work from. Since the revo software is installed, and the map encrypted they are unable to change any settings. Some may get around this if they have the software for your ECU code by flashing a standard map back onto the ecu, but this is not always possible. For example the fabia vrs has several revisions of the ecu.

So general feeling is Revo are good?

He said he can adjust my boost from 1-10...

Is the free trial only valid on the models which have the orange star with free trial next to them? (eg Seat Ibiza 1.8T 180bhp) As only a limited number of them have this.

Anyone know if they're planning on releasing software upgrades for the 170PS TDI engine anytime soon?

REVO have software for the 170TDi already but they are still trying to refine the switching process.

If it's anything like the previous diesel offerings, they don't offer the free trial. That only applied to the petrol engines....

Chris

good info guys. makes it easier for newbies like myself to see whats on offer.

i cant beleive the price differences for similar performance though.
