2.0 TDi engine missfire?

Featured Replies

Just thought i'd ask a question to the masses with these engines in thier Octavias.

Have any of you been suffering with a missfire under load at around 2-3000 rpm? I have had over the last few weeks about a dozen or so Passats and Golfs with the BKD/BKP 2.0 engine with the above symptoms. All have been cured by changing the fuel filter, a simple fix but not covered by warranty as its a service item. I believe the 60k service interval for the fuel filter is way to high. The filters are becoming clogged and limiting the fuel supplied to the engine. I'd say 40k would be plenty.

Doesnt store any faut codes and no dash lights indicate an issue.

Nothing like that yet , but it's only on 29k miles.

My Service Book For My 2.0 Tdi Octavia Says Change Fuel Filter At 20,000 Miles . The Air Filter Is However 60,000 Miles Which Is Probably Too Long.

Dare I say it, no issues with my 2.0 TDI. I will however be changing the fuel filter when I get around to the service.

Thanks for the heads up:thumbup:

I wonder if that would be related to the starting problems some people are reporting.

I had something that sounds a little like this, but didn't think much of it tbh.

I'd had the fuel filter changed early at the 20k ish service as I had let the fuel get really low a couple of times, but since then haven't noticed it again.

I can't really confirm if this is the same thing though.

I change the fuel filter at every oil service interval and don't have this problem now.

It happened on my ex 06 octavia after a full tank of cheap estern european disel

40K Would seem about right. 60K would be asking for trouble...

Mine runs quite rough sometimes, particularly when trundling along at 30mph or so. Asked the dealer about it - no fault codes or anything. I can't decide whether it's the engine, or whether there's some shunting going on in the drivetrain. Dealer couldn't replicate it.
