Police Cars

Featured Replies

Usual Peugeot 307's marked around here, but the unmarked are sneeky feckers with brand new BMW 5 series and the ST Mondeo in black with blacked out windows.

They look quite nice actually lol

already been said by my fellow south eastians, but we have fully marked up octys, furby estates, and unmarked octys too! had one in the other day needing a head gasket or something. they also use unmarked volvos, but of the few ive seen they are easy to spot as behind the rear headrests are the blue flasher units!

the octys are easy when coming toward you as the blue lights are behind the upper grill ;) plus they also like their 4x4's down here. ive seen a octy 4x4 but mostly they are mitsy shogun type cars.

West Sussex police have a love affair with marked and unmarked Merc C and E classes. Beware of a white C-class estate on the M23, i'se seen it a few times now. You wouldn't know it was a police car.

They also use Grey Evo's but TBH I haven't seen one for a long time now.

I also saw an unmarked silver Octavia II vRS hatch in Redhill recently but obviously this is in Surrey.

Yes the mercs are a pain they have 2 or 3 unmarked ones and a fully livered 430 estate i also saw the unmarked silver 430 saloon on th em23 on sunday and the livered one was on the same road towards brighton!

ive been in custody and these are the cars ive seen coming into the nick tonight a couple of marked up ford focuses, a marked up bmw 330 estate, two bmw 535 unmaked, two x type jags one marked one not, a ford focus st unmarked and two subaru imprezas sti's unmarked oh yeah and a skoda octavia vrs unmarked (save the best till last!)

Cant see the benefit for the Lambo or the Lotus, would be OK on the motorways but can you imagine the damage from speed humps.....

Working or at her majesties pleasure????

Well Surrey police dont need cars. They favour trannys with either speed cams or ANPR.

For everything else they walk! :finger:

silver octavias regularly seen in north lincs

Just a little Information. The only info I could find was in the 'Star' Newspaper at my local garage - The Police were using the Lotus as an example to young drivers that although they have a nice 'Fast car' they still drive within reason...

So basically spend out money on a nice car - Make it stand out like anything.. Then try to tell young people to slow down...

What a great Idea that was.... :S

This one always makes me laugh...

Training................. ?

:sofahide:

Lothian & Borders:- Panda's Mainly Astras but they've a couple old shape civics. Traffic, marked v70's, Merc ML, Disco III, A3 3.2 Sportback (Very Nippy) & 530 touring and a white unmarked C-Class estate. Not a comprehensive list as they're constantly changing their fleet. They also had a marked up evo VI but that didn't last long.

RMP:- vecras and of course Defenders

BTP:- Octy estate & Citroen relay van

Grampian:

Response cars - Mainly Ford Focus diesel - absolutely useless. Sew Astras left but getting phased out.

Petrol Wasters (Traffic) Still a couple of Omegas that haven't died yet. Volvo T's, Mondeos with body kits (AKA X Type Jags) and a couple of Scooby Doo Imprezas.

Standard Vans - Transits.

Support Unit vans - Mercedes Sprinters. More comfy to sit in than the transit but absolutely awful to drive. Quite happy to do 110mph in the transit but anything more than 80mph in the Merc scares the brown stuff out of me. Barely pushes 90mph in full whack anyhow.

Dog Unit - Mainly Focus estates and a couple of Peugeot Boxers. Tested the Octy mkI 1.8T 4x4 (150 bhp) a few years ago but they didn't get them cos they were told it was too fast. Wouldn't want Fido to get car sick would we?

Bikes - AFAIK quite a mixture but I saw a load of BMWs in the garage a few weeks ago. Don't know if they were for testing or if we've bought them.

Bosses Cars - BMW 535, Jag XJ, Audi A6 ... go figure.

The sports/ super cars are demos for promotional work and have never been used for operational policing.

The force I work for uses the following as marked vehicles :- Ford Focus, Mondeo and Mondeo ST220(Mondeos all estates the focus mix of hatch and estates). Volvo V70 T5, Skoda Octavia VRS estates, Honda CR-V, Mercedes M class SUV, Land rover discovery, Peugeot Experts, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Galaxy, Ford Toureno/ Transit connect and a few other one offs or older vehicles in some special roles or which just haven't been replaced yet.

As for the unmarked cars you'll have to guess but I wouldn't worry about bright red base model fiestas stopping you for speeding most of them don't even have a radio in them

Forgot to add the obligatory Discos, Rangies and Defenders in our 4x4 fleet. Defender = best fun you can have in the woods with your clothes on. :)

Peugeot Experts actually ;) but very close

I would like to state that this is not the method of transport usually used by British Transport Police, we do actually have cars and vans, even if they are all dodgy. :D

in Norfolk they use basically Fords (Mondeo ST Estates, Focus') and a couple of Volvo's. Unsure as to any undercovers.

In Herts they use mainly Astras and a couple of Vectra Estates. I do know for a fact they have a marked Evo and an undercover V70. Some Traffic cars are BMW 5-series estates as well

lol working mate

Peugeot Experts actually ;) but very close

Badge Engineered, Same motor, Pogo a bit pricier:D

  • 3 weeks later...

Whilst in Goole spotted that their local police all had Protons! How gutted would you be going through the police driving training itching to get your mitts on a high powered Volvo only to be given an Impian to drive about in! :)

Clevelend now have a marked up Ambiente Estate on their fleet, this goes along with the unmarked silver vRSs' and marked up vRS estates. All MK2s' I think now.

Most of the panda cars in Hull are Protons :thumbdwn:

The traffic police have an assortment of Volvo's, Scooby's, Octy vRS's and BMW 3 Series... I think some forces have started using Focus ST's now as well :D but I haven't seen one in Hull yet...
