Insurance for Octy vRS .. thought Elephant were cheap

Featured Replies

My previous insurance has been with Elephant (Admiral) Insurance - for a good few years they had been the cheapest when ringing round/submiting online.

I tried Swiftcover today and saved even more!

Elephant quote:

I was with Elephant for a few years but after a bit the renewal always came in about the same even with increasing NCD.

I just has to cancel with the Post Office, they were wanting

I too am tempted by Swiftcover and will look at them more closely at renewal time, but, I have heard some 'bad' things about them if you need to claim (i.e. taking too long to settle the claim). Personnaly I think that the problem is primarily too many clients and no call-centre to handle it.

The quotes thay provide are very tempting though...

Thanks for this. I am with elephant, and have been for a number of years, and renewal time is up at the end of this month. I usually do a lot of phoning round and have yet to find anyone except direct line that could come close to Elephant costs.

try direct lines online quote it is usually a lot cheaper....or if you have 4 years no claims prvilege (same company as direct line) they may even be cheaper

I was with Elephant, and Swiftcover came in cheapest. Called Elephant to say I wouldn't be renewing and they beat it by another

Good plan - then you get "service" (hopefully) and price.

I hate the way they always ask "what's your best quote so far". So they know how far they can bend you over I suppose

Indeed, but do call them rather than quote online - there should be a number on your renewal paperwork.

Tell the Swift Cover quoted you X amount, and they will beat it. :)

I was with Budget last year when I had my Fabia. I purchased the Octy II and when I asked for a quote to take me up until October (purchased the car in August), I was given a quote of

I did the same earlier this year. Elephant renewal came through at

I did something similar, but can't remember the exact figures... :)

Watch out for the Elephant. My brother recommended them to me and then told me two months later that they were all right until you wanted to claim from them...

I don't know the exact circumstances, but it wasn't pretty.

I've used both Elephant and Admiral before. One thing to watch if you have a new car is that they don't provide a replacement car if it's written off in the first year like most will. Also had a barney with Elephant when I got the Octy as they refused to insure things like the Xenon Headlights saying that they would only replace them with standard, no matter how much I tried to make them understand that it wasn't possible.

When asked what's you best quote so far I always reply with you tell me what your best is and I'll tell you if you are in with a chance.

I did on line search with confused.com and cheapest quote from a company I recognised was Marks & Sparks [they're using AXA]
