engine bay

Featured Replies

This is thread with little merit rather than my own curiousity.

having pottered under the bonnet of my vehicle, it struck me how clean it was, previous cars were always filthy. this is almost immaculate. truly clean.

(vehicle done 20,000 miles, had it for a few months, is a 55 plate bought from dealer. no mods i know off.)

i know most stuff done with it on the ramp, but has anyone else noticed this, or should i just get out and drive my car more?!

I bought my 1.6mpi four years ago with 17,000 on the clock and the engine bay was indeed pristine like yours, but now with 88,000 it's a bit dirtier!! But not as bad as many cars I've had, probably because of all the plastic linings, etc. Maybe both of ours were steam cleaned while at the dealers?

Just about all used cars at a dealer will have an engine bay clean before they are sold.

now that IS clean...

Thats not fair how come you haven't got the corrosion and spray through from the side of the rubber grill deflector that I have.

Mine has never been cleaned, Dirty Mind, Dirty Car.

The engine bay tends to stay fairly clean tbh, its fairly well protected from the elements.

An occasional wipe down of the plastics is all that is needed to keep it looking tiptop in my experience! :)

Mine's pretty clean, and was when I looked at the car in the (non VAG) dealer's, on 62_000.

Oi i heard that cheeky bleeder

I don't want to eat my diner off it

But alas you are right it's a right 5hit pit in there

I blame the recent weather

Just out of curiousity is there supposed to be a piece of plastic sheet under the sump as there is around it? Wondered if mine had fell off. Might account for the extra dirt or just my laziness

There is suppose to be one, but mine hasn't got one now.

The previous owner must have ripped it of via a speed bump, as the holes for mounting it are broken.

Does anyone have a part number while i'm thinking about it

Mine's always mucky. :D I polish the turbo pipework a bit, but really mine's "as is" :D Diesels always seem to get a bit like this though.

Looking at all these nice clean engine bays, I have gone back to find the link to a post concerning mine a couple of months ago. Still the same - I haven't driven it since GTI international because of the non-stop rain!!! (Southern jess I here you cry)
