KW3s fitted

Featured Replies

Had KW3s fitted over the weekend at Jabba.

Impressed as usual with Jabba's quality of work....had a slight knocking/scrapping noise which they eventually traced to a piece of swarf on on eof the damper mounts. Once removed all was tickty boo.

I know bugger all about suspension but wanted something that retained a good ride quality but sorted out that floaty/bouncy feeling on undulating roads.

I think I have a 45mm drop whether this is too low we shall see. I've already found out I can't park on the kerb outside my house with out scrapping the front spoiler.

So what's it like on the move. Ride quality is more controlled than standard....feel planted on Motorways. A bit bouncy at the moment but I reckon this will ease up with mileage. Very good in corners...minimal roll. With standard set-up I almost had a feeling that I was "falling off" the road.....don't know if anyone will understand that but I just didn't feeling completely in control.

That's now gone...you can just tip into a corner and go.

Also the car feels faster...I suppose this is due to being able to deploy it's power better.

I've attached a pic...but don't have a good standard comparative pic.

Right anyone got any good links in suspension set-up. ;)

Congrats, Adrian! But ooh, that's low...

So now for the typical Dutch question - how much did that set you back? :D

Needs a wash :D

It is but I can raise it if I don't get on with it.

Also as you can see from the attached pic, I don't really think I need to get 18'' alloys. I think lowering has really sorted the look...IMHO of course. :D

Not bad Adrian, you should find too that you still have loads of clearance under the rear arches for when you load the boot up with big heavy stuff from the local DIY store. However, this said I encountered at clunking noise at idle at the weekend, having loaded the boot with 10 rolls of turf - heavier than you would think. My car is lowered about 40 mm and I guess the noise was the exhaust hitting on something maybe suspension related - running a fast idle with the accelerator cleared it.

Adrian

Take a look at the first three issues of track and race cars. KW3's and VW Lupo around Bruntingthorpe. If you PM me I'll post you a photo copy of it all.

Thanks for that Des.

You have PM.

What do you need to know? Understeer/oversteer, ride height, bump, rebound, spring rates?

Oh, raise it, it looks silly! :D Strangely enough it may also improve the handling as well

Trying to sort something out for those of you who require set up advice on your suspension at Bruntingthorpe.

Just the basics about setting it up really.

Sort of a suspension FAQ....."do this if it does that".

I know it is probably quite hard to give definative answers but the basics would be good.
