Is this a common Turbo problem 110 tdi

Featured Replies

Hi now and again my 110 tdi would trip the turbo out and go into safe mode. And be ok on a restart. I have taken it to a diesel specialist who did some checks, they consulted some other people who said that it is a verible boost turbo and it has probally stuck near or on full boost.

I have had one quote to repair it 175 +vat but that is not taking the turbo off and back on again, for that they will pick up / repair and drop off. That's unless they find out more problems. The worst being a new unit 480+ vat

Is this a common problem and do the figures seem ok. Could this sticking part be done by a good garage.

Yes it is common on cars with higher miles and or lots of stop start driving for the vanes to become jammed in the sludge inside the turbo. Try the search using 'VNT vanes' or similar and I think you'll find a guide or two.

Hi,I had the same sort of problem with my 1.9 tdi 110bhp when it had done around 23,000 miles 8 months ago this is on a 04 reg (under warranty handy for me).My local Skoda garage changed what i think was a some sort of turbo inlet valve (could be wrong as was a number of month's ago) the part was changed 3 times and problem still posisted UNTIL the turbo was changed since then i have had no problems with it and since then the car shift's quicker than it did before.

Hope you get it sorted soon,it remember how anoying it was.

Thanks for your replies I am having some more checks done at the Diesel specialist. Then it may be the Turbo off and sent away.
