VAG COM Auto update

Featured Replies

Need some help please from those in the know.

I recentl bought a HEX CAN interface and am running the latest 704.1 program. When I boot up the laptop I get an auto update notice to a new version. I click on ok to download and the download procedure carries on I guess it should. When its done nothing else comes up.

Keeps trying everytime I reboot. Currently running 20070422, IIRC its 0429 that its trying to update to.

Do I need to do anything to save the new version for example?

Cheers

Ross

Meant to contact UWE or Sebastian about this myself. Mine is the same, and if you look at the version number in the software it still has the old data version which is probably why it keeps wanting to update.

I'm assuming that 20070422 is 22nd April 2007.

Thats what I assumed.

It's the software in the dongle we're talking about, isn't it? I've never had any problem with the upgrades, but I think I had it plugged into the car before I turned the laptop on. Does it need to see a 12V signal before it upgrades?

I thought it was the data version, in terms of the program version.

Same as mine Stu,

I'm confused 'cause this works well here, and seems to work well for them majority of other customers -- the update has been available for a week now, and there have been almost no issues reported. Would you guys please e-mail me and let me know if there's anything unusual about your VAG-COM installation -- perhaps installed in an unusual location? Also let me know the version of Windows you're using.

Thanks!

Mine is running on two seperate machines. Both with Vista Business and installed in the default locations. Nothing else odd.

I see the latest data version is now 0629. I just tried clicking on Check for Updates Now but keep getting "VAG-COM was unable to reach the server (error code: -1). Having successfully downloaded the latest User's Manual a couple of minutes ago, this which presumably points to Ross-Tech's server being OK.

Take 2:

Tested VAG-COM on my Felicia. It announced that a firmware update was required and the proceeded to update itself from 1.72 to 1.78 in situ, ie without any internet connection.

Take 3: See my later post below.

Same as Stu, nothing exceptional, running Vista Premium.

Could this be a Vista issue? Dare I say not many users have Vista...

Perhaps we need to plug in the cables then.

I did email Ross Tech this morning so they may see it when they get to work.

Has your data version changed now Denis?

Running XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 8200. Returned to house, rebooted laptop and not a desktop icon in sight! Switched off, rebooted, all the icons reappeared plus offer of VAG-COM update. VAG-COM then successfully downloaded and installed update from version 20070422 to 2007 0629. :)

You see i think mine downloads but then doesnt install.

I'm running XP Pro SP2 or Home SP2 depending on lappy used. Both auto-updated the software, and the cable respectively once plugged in.

Can be a tad annoying if you've updated the cable on one of the laptops and you've forgotten to update the software though, but that's life :D

Now I'm even more confused. The current Data Update does not come with new firmware.

Let's do this: Anyone who is having a problem with an update, please e-mail [email protected]. Please include the following information:

* Your full name.

* The version of VAG-COM you are currently using (as seen on the About screen).

* The Data Version shown on the About screen.

* The version of Windows you are using.

* The location that you have VAG-COM installed. Not "The Default" -- please check the shortcut on your desktop and see where it's actually installed.

Thanks!

I had this last week, appeared to update and did not change anything, however yesterday connected to a car the auto update came up which I accepted and it all installed and worked perfectly.

Email sent.
