Brake pads

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good set of brakes pads? As some of you know I have replaced the standard disc and pads with uprated disc (EBC) and pads (Greenstuff). However, I am not that happy with the performance of the pads. Also do you think I should change the brake fluid?

Thanks

Told you they were too soft for normal use :D

Try Feroddo DS2500, part no FCP590. Swap the fluid, Castrol RS Super DOT 4 will be fine. You can go nuts if you are flush and get either Castrol SRF or Silkolene Pro Race 2000, but bet on about

Me do it myself are you mad!!! And where can I get the pads and fluid from?

Pads? I use one of 2 places. Either Sejoc 01375-846401, ask for Kevin and mention my name, Jon French / the nutter with the black RS (he may do you a 10% discount) or if he hasn't got any, try Demon Tweeks 01978-664468. If they say they haven't got any in stock, ask them to get them sent direct from Ferrodo (should arrive pretty much next day).

Depends what fluid you want:

Castrol RS Super DOT 4, Halfords,

Just to add:

Kevin can also sell you group N disks, grooved and drilled to your preference, just bought some more from him. He supplies Amd and Forge with theirs.

Main point of the post is to say, I have not managed to fade mine yet. Ian has a similar setup, although he uses standard disks and the Castrol Super RS Super DOT 4 and I don't think he's faded them yet (although IIRC he did managed to get flames on the pads with no fade), think Colin is also running the castrol and the DS2500s, again, no fade!

They do put out more dust than the greens and are more expensive. If either are a problem, try the reds (part no 31114), again from Kevin. I didn't manage to fade them in a weekend at the Ring.

Think reds are about

PS do you know anyone that can fit an uprated intercooler (localish to me) apart from my favorite tuner?

Uprated as in better flow, but same location (as flogged by Forge) or uprated as in "its f'in huge and goes on the front of the car"?

Could probably sort something out for you, but would need to check first. It'd probably be an evening/ Saturday afternoon.

Oh, and you'll probably need a remap. IIRC Des (delcac) tried to fit one and it didn't! No doubt he could tell you what he tried.

Uprated as in mounted in front of rad & chuffing large:)

Is it necesary to also change the rear pads to DS2500

for a fade free track weekend?

Or do you use stock rear pads?

/Eric

Standard rear pads should be fine, I used them for quite a few track days. 4x4 rears take a bit more of an hammering due to the electronics, but the RS is fine.

Must say though that I run DS2500 at the rear on group N grooved disks. For track I usually swap the fronts for DS3000, but then I'm probably mad :D
