2.0tfsi and 4x4??

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anybody know if Skoda are planning to deliver the 4x4 models with the 200ps engine?

Or put 4wd onto the VRS?

Seat are doing it with the Freetrack but I'm sure the combination would be much better in an Octavia..

thx

simon

You could be opening a can of worms on this one.....................:P

The main reason the vRS WON'T have 4 wheel drive is because VAG offer lots of other lovely cars with 4x4 already.

The Scout probably won't come with the 200PS engine as again, this will encroach on other VAG brand territory.

It's been discussed and debated a few times in the past.

Oh, and welcome to the forums :)

The chances of this happening are between slim and none!. As explained in the previous post, VAG distinguishes it's brands with features and I'm affraid that Skoda come at the bottom of the pecking order within the group :thumbdwn:

oh ****!!! its 6 years ago all over again!!

as above no quite simply but as before the 4x4 might/should be getting a petrol turbo engine so should be good for a bit of fun like last time :)

Thanks to all for the responses, seems pretty unanimous. So I have to decide if I really do want the 200bhp OR the 4wd...

Perhaps chipped diesel 4wd is the best combination of both worlds? (or wait and hope for the 1.8tfsi that they are replacing the 2.0fsi with..except for the 4wd :( )

You could always buy a 4WD mazda 6 MPS with 260PS !

You selling yours then Roy? :)

Not just yet Len. I've only just run it in.

wait as already said they will change the 2.0 fsi in teh 4x4 to a 1.8tfsi which will easily break 200bhp once remapped :D

apparently this is a cracking car... how do you find it?

(a bit off topic, PM me if you don't want the thread hijacked!)

VRS can modified to 4x4 with total cost 4100euros :P my next step....

Keep us posted and with pictures :)

4100 euros? fully fitted and supplied?

you would need new hub carriers, rear suspension, a rear diff, half shafts, prop shaft, a new gearbox, a transfer box, new front drive shafts, find somewhere for the exhaust to go, a new fuel tank, possibly remove or atleast adjust the spare wheel well and the list goes on but if it can be done for 4100 then get it done and show us :)

not arugeing as know one knows every system out there but how does drive get to the back? on a car like the octavia/evo etc they have different gearboxes on teh 4x4 versions as they have to have a transfer box to run the prop, because of this transfer box the drive shafts are a different length to that of a FWD car. my list of different parts related to the difference between the FWD adn 4x4 octavia.

it has a different fuel tank to accomodate the propshaft that on the octavia runs above the exhaust, infact the same design is used on my mazda come to think of it, its called a sadle tank as it has a big hump in the middle to go over the prop and a secondary fuel pump in it which pumps fuel from one side to the other as there is only one fuel pump feeding the engine.
