New Ibiza Cupra 160 Bhp 1.9 TDi

Featured Replies

Looks good, but is there actually any real development over the Fab RS .... which can be chipped to get more than the 160bhp using the same diesel powerplant. Guess this means the Fab will remain the stealth option for those in the know whilst those that want the image and "out of the box" power will go for the Seat. Will be interesting to see how they price it against the Fab.

Edit: ... unless the engine genuinely is "new" and can be chipped in excess of this.

Would make sense to be cheaper than the Leon..

i think that all that engine is will be a 130 with a seatsport chip.

most TDi 130s develop over 140 anyway (mine is 149 - totally stock) so i think its not gonna be owt special.

I thought Skoda's were going to use the diesel, and the 'sporty' Seat and Audi brands were going to be petrol?

Could the new octy vrs be a 2.0T petrol?

I can see it happening, but why have a hot hatch that is faster than it's larger equivelant? as it defeatrs the object of going for the larger model in the first place. (and I thought the 150 intercooler would not fit in a supermini sized car)

I think the Ibiza is a bogging looking thing sooner take a Fab vRS over it any day!!!!!! What is it with their horrid interiors as well??????

I think it looks nice. Totally unsubtle though. I would still take the Fab RS over it.

I read in either Autocar or Evo that it was going to be Seat who got the hot diesels and Audi where getting the powerfull petrols. Although they did also say that the new Ibiza Cupra TDI would come with a new 2.0 litre pd engine that would have 170bhp, which we now know to be wrong. I take what these mags say with a pinch of salt, a lot of it is just pure speculation.

I thought it was going to be a slightly tuned version of the 150pd engine. I have read that most 150 engines are now putting out around 170-175bhp standard so the Ibiza Cupra should be the same if this is true. The down side is that there will be less gains from tunning

Apparently, the pd150 intercooler is too big to fit on the Polo/Fabia/Ibiza platform, which would explain why SEAT have just remapped a 130 instead.

What are the pros and cons of having a PD130 remapped to ~170bhp vs a PD150 putting out about 170bhp stock? Is the performance the same? Economy? Life? Given the choice which would you go for?

150/130 at the end of the day once chipped they'll output very close bhp/torque figures. I've heard of a few 150pd engine failures, mainly to do with the injectors/turbo, but I've not heard of any 130pd failures so frankly I'm not bothered about the Ibiza Cupra, for

I'd considered changing my Ibiza Sport TDi (PD130) for an ibiza cupra, but have decided to stick with my car (only 5 months/14000 miles old), as the Cupra is "too blatant".

Asides from 17" wheels, and shiny red brembo callipers with drilled dinnerplate discs :D, my car doesn't look any different to an Ibiza 1.2.

Its already faster than a stock Cupra Tdi (although I would like to get one on a dyno, find out what they're really pushing - seeing as, as Neo says his and mine PD130's put out ~149bhp standard), and is set to progress to being even quicker.
