Speant about 5 hours cleaning my car today,

Cleaned with NXT wash

Polished with Autoglym Super resin polish

Wax with Collinite 915

After buffing off the wax the car was looking awesome, went for a mile drive and when I came back there are LOADS of little black dots all over the car. They buff off fine, well with a bit of pressure.

What are they?

Will I need to go over the whole car again buffing? Or will a quick wash tomorrow sort it?

Sounds like tar dude, possibly due to the hot weather.

I had only put one layer of wax on, would it be a good idea to wash and wax again tomorrow?

If I have 2 coats on and I right in thinking I wont have to polish / wax it for a few months again?

Tar, hmm any ideas on what to do? It's happened on my dads car (he used the same stuff) as we both did our cars today.

Tar shouldn't really just wipe off with a buff, it's probably just some sort of road grime.

It you do use a bug/tar remover then you will have to start from scratch but as the marks are coming off i wouldn't bother with that.

A good wash tomorrow and make sure that all the spots are diffinately gone before applying the second coat of 915. I used 915 on my Octy VRS which I have just sold and the dirt just won't stick to the paint any more.

Water won't stick either and layer the 915 makes a huge difference and should also last a good 6 to 8 months if applied properly.

Road grime? I only went a mile after it'd been freshly washed / polished / waxed!!

I'll give it a good wash tomorrow then and hopefully the marks will go...

Then hopefully apply another coat. No-one told me how hard it was to buff 915!!!

Could it be anything to do with waxing so soon after polishing? Are you meant to leave a time gap?

You need to apply it very thinly almost so you can't really see in on the paint. I do three panels then remove the wax by buffing it off then move on to the next three panels and so on until the car is finished.

The piantwork need to be fairly cool if it's too warm this will make removal difficult as well.

I use a Meguiars yellow pad available from Halfords to apply the wax and it need to be damp for best results!

Yea, I think I might of been putting waaay to much wax on. It buffed off ok though, just took a bit more work!

I used autoglyms perfect polishing clothes to apply / buff. The cloth I applied the wax with was damp.

Dads car has all the little marks on too and he hasn't driven anywhere! Weird.

Guess I'll have to give it a wash tomorrow and see if they go. Could always buff over the whole car after a wash though...

Next time you give the full treatment it might be worth using a paint cleanser and give it a clay, you may still have some bonded material under the polish and wax.

Looking like you've achieved a good shine with the method used but when it looks good after taking a while to do it, it becomes an obsession and you always find faults, the trick is to prep and the wax is the final process, basically all you will do is seal any imperfections under the wax.

Well I was under the impression that using a plaint cleaner was only needed if the paint work was in a bad state or fairly old?

When it was all buffed off the bodywork looked amazing, really shiney / dark. Go back to it in like 30 minutes and it's a mess! I'll try and get some pics tomorrow to show exactly what I mean!!

Given it a quick wash today and it seemed to of got rid of the dots! Hurray!

It's starting to rain tho (as you can see on the pics) so won't be able to apply a second coat of wax today.

Will one coat be enough? It beaded well last night when it rained!

Hello mate, nice looking vrs, i take it that picture is taking from outside your house? I note there is a train station oppsite just a guess but the little black dots could have something to do with the trains? or am i talking nonsense!

Hmm, I doubt it... but who knows! Glad they're gone now thats all I can say!

Did you put some tyre shine or simular on the tyres? I find that if I spray directly on to the rubber I get the same thing on the paint work or it sprays off if it is still wet.

Now I use a paint brush to apply the required tyre shine and it seams to have done the trick
