10 months faster NCB

Featured Replies

Renewal time is nearly apon me :(

Have had a very good quote with a 10 months excellerator no claims bonus, or something like that.

Has anyone had any experiance of these, are they okay to do or a bit scammy.

I am trying to work out the concept at the moment best I can.

To be truthful have had no experience of this, but am slightly sceptical of an insurance company offering something for nothing, probably just my cynical mind:)

Yep, i did it for three years, no probs at all, have since moved on to a new Insurance company and they accepted the NCD without a question.

remember though the price is just for ten months, looks good but work out what the price per month is against an annual to see how good it is. Then weigh that up against the quicker NCB

ive had them before and they worked a treat for me and my brother

There you go i am just paranoid:D

have always had them, so i can build up my NCB quicker. costs more on a month to month basis but gets you to greater NCB quicker :)

you can have 5 years NCB in 4 years and 1 month with these policies

My wife took out one of these policies a few years ago but come renewal time the requote was completely uncompetitive. She then had a lot of trouble getting another insurance company to accept her NCD. So I would suggest caution with these kinds of products. You may have a bigger NCD but may be tied into the one company as others will not accept it. Hence you may not be able to get the best quote. Since this we have stuck to normal 12 month policies and although it has taken slightly longer to build up the NCD I believe I have managed to save money by being able to shop around and get the best price by switching companies most years.

i shop around every year and change most years, i have used elephant, morethan, bell and possibly some others without a single problem, they simply ask what your ncb is and its right there on the system for them to check.

Did this last year with Admiral. Remember that the quote you receive looks more competitive than 12 month policies because it is only for 10 months, but the advantage is you can build up no claims quicker. I had no problem transferring my no claims when I renewed with another insurer

Yep, I'm on my 3rd year of a 10 month policy with elephant.co.uk. I've had no issues when shopping round either as at the end of the 10 months they send a certificate as proof of your NCD to send to your next insurers.

You could use it as a bargaining tool as well EE, when they offer you a ten month policy say another company were offering a 12 month policy for similar money etc and I'll bet they discount it quite a bit.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I realise the renewal is over 10 months so the price will look better, but I am looking at saving about

Make sure you compare like for like Emily. 10 month NCB accellerator policies are good as long as they a priced well - I did this last year but back on a 12 month policy now. :)

Lynz is on a 10mth policy, has been for the last two years with no problems, works out just a bit more expensive compared to a 12mth policy pro rata. you do on the other had build your bonus quicker.

Hmmm, I think if I was still in Devon I would stay on the 12 month policy but moving to a high risk post code and with a few points awarded I am going to need all the no claims I can get.

Having a bit of difficulties finding insures, so maybe watch this space for a furby for sale :(

Look at who owns the company, and you'll find nearly all the firms offering 10 month deals are owned by Admiral/churchill ;)

Try Bell, owned by admiral but i found them good when I crashed and had no no claims.

A touch scammy; you'll probably find that no-one else will accept the short years in the future, until you've actually got a full NCD.

I think it depends how it's presented at renewal time. Admiral simply stated I had x years NCB, despite my final "year" only actually being 10 months....

Chris

I had a few companies rejecting a the 10 months, so I've been on the 12 months now.

people can't say no that way

Similar here with Elephant, but i believe thery are underwritten by Admiral anyway

I suppose. I got a "full NCD" after 3 years with own policy like this:-

1) "Introductory discount" on new policy.

2) End of year 1 quote stated 2 years earned, yr 2 stated 3.

3) Changed company to Eagle Star. At end of year 3, quote just stated "full NCD".

I don't think I've ever been asked to provide evidence of NCB... :rubchin:
