loss of power, stalling, split pipes?

Featured Replies

over the last two weeks ive noticed my 2001 octavia vRS aint as fast as it used to be :( a few times now when idle its like the car is ready to stall then it catches itself. also the revs go really lumpy and the car struggles to accelerate. then last night while driving it the orange engine sign lit up then went off after an hour now is back on again. im suspecting ive got a split in the intercooler pipes due to hearing a loud blowing noise from that area once in a while. ive got it booked in for tomorrow but i just wanted to find out if a split in that area could be the cause of me loosing power or is there anything else i should be looking out for.

Best to get the engine codes read either from Skoda, a specialist garage or someone in the area with VAG-COM to connect upto your diagnostic port.

i am thats why its going in tomorrow.

Vacuum pipes as mentioned elsewhere are my educated guess.

strange, I have a 2004 RS combi and she goes lumpy after hard driving. no mods whatsoever though.

been told the air mass sensor is crap and hence the ECU is supplying incorrect mix when idling.

A search will bring up loads of info on at least three of them fault codes.
