Have I got a weak clutch, Octy vRS MK 1

Featured Replies

 My 05 Octy vrs only has 14k on the clock and for the the first time I tried a balls out standing start with the ASR off , 4k on the tach and dumped the clutch , no sound of wheelspin until about 30yds down the road but the tach was on 6k and I had to feather the throttle, it just didn't seem to whip forward as I expected and parking up a matter of around 2mins later I was sure I could smell clutch , am I a numpty:rofl: and do they all do that and the wheels were spinning without the noise when I tried the red mist standing start :)

No car likes dumping the clutch at 4K revs, I would have gone for a more progressive start from say 2.5K, and fed the power in, that way the turbo should be spooled up and ready for action.

it should have spun teh wheels and you would have known it by the smell and probably smoke coming off the wheels, my car will go fine normally with a 6k launch but sadly i did it one too many times and blew my gearbox up recently but mines a 4x4 :)
