I'm new to all this and thought that i'd say hello and ask for some help please

I've just bought a 52 plate octy vrs and don't like the standard Hu can anyone let me know what works well and a good change of speakers, can't have anything in the boot due to work use.

what sort of budget have you got for the Hu and the speakers? will you be amplifying the speakers externally?

Obviously depends on your budget but the Becker Grand Prix and the Alpines seem to be quite popular and the display colours match up quite well with the dash board / switch illumination.

I've gone for direct replacement coaxials in the front and have got some to put in the back (infinity's for both) and am happy with the overall sound. Mainly because I didn't want to be hacking too many holes in panels / parcel shelf etc.

Its well worth running a search on here to look fgor this kind of info cos you'll find many of these things have been discussed before and its a great place to learn things.

Changing the HU will increase the sound quality by loads, if that is not good enough then as above speakers are the next step.

I've not really thought about a budget yet but i would have thought somewhere around

id head over to Talk Audio and speak to a few guys there as that quite a budget and you could get a very good setup if you only want front speakers and a HU. i would reccomend amplifying though as this is the only way youll get the best out of speakers imo.

Ive just had a quick shop around and put this together. i would maybe consider an alpine 9855r as an hu but the one i have listed is also very good.

Had a pioneer in another car before and thought that it had a brilliant set up.

budget may have been shortened a little due to washing machine spilling it's insides all over the kitchen floor:mad: missus not impressed:mad:

if you can get an IVA W200 they are awesome units and well worth the money! my aim is one of those but only when i can afford it!
