fabia vrs performance?

Featured Replies

hey guy's

I currently own a felicia 1.6 laurin and klement.

However im looking for a new car and I want either the octy VRS or the Fab VRS

what are the specs for the Fabia VRS?

and how does it perform?

thanks in advance!

AutoExpress:

0-60: 8.5s

30-70 thru gears: 8.5s

50-70 in 5th / 6th: 6.2s / 8.0s

Being FWD and diesel, don't judge the car on the 0-60 time. The in-gear acceleration on a Furby vRS is outstanding. I come from a background of Subaru Impreza's and these little cars suprised me. On the motorway in top I outdragged a mate in his Scooby, and when we got to the trackday we were en-route to it didn't embarrass itself either. Test drive one and prepare to be impressed, especially with the economy ;)

The best bit for me is that you out run ALL hoodies and c.h.a.v.s, but still get 50-60 mpg out of the car if you drive gently.

I went through the same thought processes......either Octy vRS or Fabia vRS.

I still love the look of the Octy and love the 1.8T idea but the fact it's group 16 insurance and I have to commute to work kind of made the decision for me.

Now the Fabia has been re-trimmed (the stupid white seats were my only bugbear) I think it's a fantastic little car. Goes well (even in standard guise - far better if mapped) and can suprise many other cars with it's sudden turn of speed.

Don't go racing Leon CupraR's though.....it's quick but not outright fast.

For group 9 insurance it's outstanding value.

Yea....... unless they're driving Octavia Elegance estates

Although to be fair, that Fabia had been remapped :D

Not bad for an out the box generic remap at 160bhp.

Apart from the image the fabia appears to be getting their not bad cars. I myself wanted an octy but due to the insurance it was a no go. Out the box its not a bad car. Not great but not bad either. Can still have fun on the b roads. The heavy front does spoil the balance but a trip to jabba can sort that.;)

Just watch out for the diesel Merc's. their nippy ;)

Yes.

But its also worth considering that both of those Octavias were beaten by a standard "blob eye" Impreza.

So, in our airfield trials a standard Impreza beats remapped Octavia which beats remapped Fabia.

Yet others find their Fabia beats an Impreza

Clearly the runway in your video was flat ;)

Lets not go down this route.

Mr Racer is just asking a simple question.

I see insurance is mentioned here too - its worth noting that my Octavia Elegance 1.8T estate with the exhaust, suspension and remap declared was cheaper to insure than a standard Octavia VRS hatch. Worth considering if anyone is looking at premiums.

If I understand things correctly from what I've read only - the Fabia vRS has more fun factor.....

But I may be biased....

interesting. But surley if one can afford to carry out all the mods then they should be able to afford the insurance?

Not having a dig but I also looked into your way. But for what I wanted an Octy vrs was better value out the box.

Indeed... it isn't actually that quick, but it feels it and is fun!

Whenever you refer to this airfield trial I have to laugh. You keep going back to it as if it was the defacto standard test by which all should be measured. It isn't.

It was one 60k+ Fabia with a poor generic remap and a long box. Hardly good sport. I know for a few "Just Remapped" Fabias which would soot on your bonnet as they passed. Those same Fabias will also show a standard Blob Eye a clean pair of heals especially on the track. Do you know what the biggest difference is?

The driver :P

BTW, thanks for getting back to me on the caliper winder

Aye, I don't want to see this thread spin in the usual dirge. Ill be quiet :D

I think that someone with more knowledge than me should organise a new airfield comparison test. I mean if there isn't a 'gold standard' test to which we can refer to why the heck not?

Lemme see suitable Fabia vehicles - Jason, Jabba Luke's car, WW, Xav......
