It might be worth your using a Traffic Film Remover initially, I wouldn't normally recommend this as it strips any wax finish, (it won't damge your paint, it's what valeters use to prep brand new cars, it gets the waxy coating off that new cars have when they are delivered), but it would at least enure that you had a perfectly clean base to start from. If you did use TFR, you would need to give your car a good wax polish treatment afterwards.

As for washing, just make sure you wet the car thouroughly first, use a good quality car shampoo, dilute as recommended, never too strong, and rinse thouroughly. If the sun is shining, (I know, I know, very unlikely recently), then I wash and rinse smaller areas at a time, especially with a car the size of the Superb, that way the suds don't have time to dry on the paintwork. If I don't have time to dry the car properly, I use an aquablade, this gets rid of the worst of the water and is great if you haven't got much time. Hope that helps.

thats a good idea, maybe I'll get one. I have been washing the car with turtlewax and then chamying but trying to do it all in one go lol. Maybe aqua blade and smaller areas would fix the issue lol!!

Chris

Aqua Blade is a great idea to get rid of most of the water off your car and I use one as well on mine but I would have a look at the following forum as there is lots of ideas on here........A world for detailers...

I have twin rainwater butts at home - 1 with a submersible pump + hose used for washing the car. Rinse off suds before they have a chance to dry - perfect finish every time - and with no need to leather..........

I found a solution, the local hand car wash :)

Have exactly the same back at my parents gaff, use it every time! No water marks at all, dad washes his car with the tap water (we live in a hard water area) and asks why he cant get his to shine like mine!

Add that to the fact I use Maguires (sp?) cleaner wax after as a polish / wax treatment and my car shines for days!

I ALWAYS dry my Superb with a Meguiars Water magnet. The watermarks you will be getting are from the lime in your water. Rinse well after washing and then dry. Never wash in strong sunlight either. I usually wash in the shade or in the evening. When it's raining is a very good time to wash as the rain water wont leave water marks

Funny you should say this mate but I always wash mine and the Mrs' motor in the rain.......so much easier to clean although the neighbours think I am mad, LOL!!

Autoglym Aqua Blade is fantastic, costs about

No comment Si:P :P

No offence:thumbup:

Did my car today, not enhusiast by any means but this was today's process,

1) Thoughly rinse whole car with with cold water

2) Clear each wheel with Meguiars cold class shampoo using lambswool mitt

3) Empty Bucket

4) Wash whole car with Meguiars cold class shampoo using lambswool mitt

5) Rinse with hose (no attachment on hose to give better beading) thoughly

6) Dry with Meguiars watermagnet inc. wheels

7) Windows cleaned with Autoglym windscreen cleaner

8) Clay bar the bonnet and wings

9) Wax with Meguiars cold class liquid wax (apply with applicator sponge and wipe off with Meguiars polishing cloth)

10) Spray quick detailing spray and wipe off with Meguiars polishing cloth

11) Finished with Autoglym extra gloss protection later on when sun went in.

Alot to do but the paint has come up a treat. In the bonnet you can see all the "flake" of the metalic paint. The best site to use for cleaning is www.polishedbliss.com

Fluffy do you find that the Gold Class shampoo smells like Brut or cheap after shave!!!

I get all sorts of funny looks when I'm washing mine down as I'm sure I smell like medallion man!!

Smells more like "Hi karate" or "blue stratos" to me....LOL
