General running problems....next steps..

Featured Replies

After getting 17705 codes...and others over the past week, i've had a great amount of help from you guys, but i'm now at the stage of going to buy some new parts.

I changed the d/v over lastnight to a standard one, and the car ran worse, idle lumpy, slight surging, and cel still on.

So my next step, is to replace 1, or both of the following pipes as described in these threads i'm going to link to at the end of this post.

Now, should i just bite the bullet and buy them both ?

Or try one first, then the other ?

Many thanks

Johnny.

Changing the DV should make no difference to idle. If the idle is lumpy and surging as you describe it sounds like you have another air leak in the system.

might sound weird and may not work on these but have you tried disconnecting the battery neg for half an hour to try and reset the ecu and see if it still reads the fault now youve changed DV?

The d/v was just worth a shot that was all.

I'm 100% certain there's a leak , as you and many others say..

It's finding it ! Afraid i'm no technician.

Although tonight i'm going to try removing the front pipe as described in one of the above threads.

Thats something i've not tried, although i'm now back on my Hyperboost d/v, so i'm presuming it wont make a difference.

Would resetting the ecu affect the Jabba map ?

no, reseting the ecu will not effect the map.

Suppose it's worth a try, certainly not going to do any harm is it ?

Give it a shot you will be surprised what you can do with a little help from here

I know, i'd be up the creek without the help i've been getting from here.

I'm going to disconnect the battery tonight, and run the car to see what happens over a few days.

In the meantime, i think i'll just go order the Pipe (06A 145 790 C)

And take it from there.

Does this sound ok ?

Can anyone advise on the above please ?

My 4X4 also has a Jabba remap and I elected to have the pressure hose from the turbocharger to charge air cooler changed for the modified one last year for peace of mind. The part was relatively inexpensive at

Thanks Denis.

The cars really doing my head in this morning.

Will phone up and order the pipe today. :)

Bottom pipe ordered. :)

Should be here by the end of the week, so hopefully get it fitted next week.

Fingers crossed !! :D

Cheers Mr Mulv.

Should do the trick, if not i'll order the other pipe next week and see how it goes.

Have ordered a VAG-Com lead, so i'll at least be able to keep an eye on it if the light comes back on again.

Hope it cures what ails ya. Good to know on the VAGCOM cable front too:thumbup:

If it is that pipe then its a relatively cgheap n easy fix.

did you see my last reply to your earlier thread? ...beers both this sat and next.

( this sat is a pub lunch in the west end and then along to the club for its members "free" day , all welcome )

Am in Edinburgh this saturday on a day session with the missus, so i may be around to sneak off for a few if she gets bored of beer and hits the shops. :D

sweet ...look forward to catching up with a few ales.

will mail you my mobile number

The regional host for the Edinburgh Scottish VAG meets has made a device he plus onto one of the pipes somewhere in the engine bay which has a valve on it so he can squirt air down it from a compressor ... cover pipes and joints with soapy water and hey presto bubbles if you have a leak.

We are meeting on Tuesday next week if you want I could try and arrange something. There is usuall a small donation (5 quid) to the club for VAG com readings, I don't know if there is a similar one for using his pipe tester.
