Log-ins/ Coding for Octavia I vRS HVAC

Featured Replies

Our '01 vRS HVAC works fine except it won't hold the settings when switched off. VAG-COM reveals the unit is not coded (and no WSC).

When we try a suitable code, it won't store it past swich off. Does this require a log-in code and if so, anyone any ideas?

It's Climatronic C1.0.0

Ta.

New unit? What are you trying to code exactly?

No, this is the original controller, but VAG-COM shows incorrectly coded controller and basic settings not performed. When you look at the HVAC open controller screen, it shows no coding (00000) and no WSC either.

Code 01000 works fine while the ignition is on, together with a suitable WSC, but all vanish when the ign is switched off. Hence the question about log-ins.

Or is the controller memory stuffed?

Any and all theories gratefully received!

Hard to say what's wrong exactly, but a login is definitly not necessary. Please try coding 11000 instead.

No, that doesn't seem to work either. As soon as either 01000 or 11000 are put into the controller, the clutch on the pump clicks in. As soon as you switch off, all codes are lost again.

Do these controllers need a permanent live feed to retain settings, or is it like the engine controller, which remembers it's settings even when removed?

Even after double checking I still think the procedure you are trying is correct.

Code the module, switch off the ignition for at least 30 seconds and then switch it on again and double check the coding...

Sorry Sebastian, I just tried it again with both the above codes; as soon as I switch back on, leaving it even longer than 30 seconds, no code present.

Do you know if dealers have the ability to "Stock flash" these controllers, as we do with the engine controllers (Revo), in case the software has become corrupted?

It just seems bizarre that everything else works and it works fine when coded, it just won't store the coding!!!

I wonder if there is some kind of backup rechargable battery that has gone duff.
