Got a TFSi? Got a Remap? Maybe not for much longer!!

Featured Replies

It seems that a large number of Octaiva II (as well as the other VAG) TFSi engine ECU's require a flash software upgrade. If you have had a remap then it will for sure be wiped.

Many remapper's will reflash your remap free of charge but you'd need to check that with them.

There isn't a recall, the car will be checked at the next service interval or diagnostic visit and the ECU software updated.

If you are concerned and are a freedom member then feel free to PM me your chassis number and I will tell you if you are affected.

The reason for the update isn't very detailed except to say that it is to cure an issue with the fault memory/CEL.

I have a service due in 700 miles. I'll get mine done whilst its in then

Just the TFSI, or standard FSI also?

I've heard that FSI has an issue too.

Suppose it will if the FSI is mapped, altough i don't know anyone who has, maybe we can run up a reply and list of FSI owners who have maps...?

I have only seen information which concerns the TFSi.

i too was gonna ask about fsi users, what are the actual issues on the tfsi map? and how many fsi users have had a map as it is expensive just for 6 bhp more gain.

6bhp gain? I've heard (red) that gain is more than 30bhp (at least for some companies).

Some companies are also issuing their warranty for remapped engines, so there probably should be no problem with flash software upgrade.

One of the lads noticed that he needs to have the 2nd Fog lamp re-enabled on the rear after the flash.

Bit strange as it's a different controller.

I've replied to your PM Colm.

not with non-turbo engines, which is what the member was saying. With the fsi engine (as with any non-turbo) anything more than 6 bhp is normally a bonus and uite expensive for what you get

Is the upgrade something which is needed on a remapped TFSI, or is it already likely to be incorporated in the map? Easy enough just to tell them at service time not to do it if it's not necessary :D

A remapped car will have the same software as the OEM but it will have had some parts modified.

Yep, so potentially by re-remapping it, you'll be undoing Skoda's changes......

If the remap was done by flashing a version of the old file over the top then yes.
